Aloha-Snackbar Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 It seems like IL2 is getting or generating an incorrect IPD value for non-Rift/Vive VR headsets resulting in everything in the cockpit looking tiny, and it also makes using the gunsights difficult. Others have mentioned the same issue with Samsung, Acer, Lenovo, Dell WMR Headsets, PSVR headsets and Pimax. Based on testing in game and from what others have said the IPD value (distance between eyes) is set to roughly 2x what it actually should be. The value can be seen in the "startup.cfg" file on the "or_ipd = 0.12599" row. Assuming this is a value in meters then the game is putting my "eyes" 12.5999 cm apart, which is almost exactly 2x the IPD my headset is configured to (6.3cm). To put this into perspective, when sitting centered in the cockpit my right eye is further right than the right side of a Bf109 gunsight, which is already offset to the right. I guess its a similar perspective to what Sid from Ice Age might have Other people using Rift/Vive etc report that their "or_ipd" shows something much more reasonable like 0.0635 etc etc which is a valid 63.5mm IPD. I did not find any threads about this issue already in the bug reports forum, however there are several in the VR forum, including: 8
ICDP Posted March 7, 2018 Posted March 7, 2018 It's not distances, it's IPD error and it only happens in BOX. Would love this to be fixed, WMR devices launched in Oct 2017 and are already at almost 5.5% of marketshare according to Steam VR Headset survey. While hardly massive it does indicate a trend that WMR devices are slowly gaining market share. If someone with a Windows MIxed Reality HMD asks me to recommend a flight sim for VR, BOX is not remotely on my list. 4
chiliwili69 Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Now that Kuban has been finally released it will be worth to review this important item. Not only for existing and growing WMR devices ( which are becoming incredible interesting price wise, 222$) but also the near to release HTC Vive Pro. Jason, if you go to SanFrancisco this week you can test the HTC Vive Pro at GDC2018
scrapmetal Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 I just ordered the Vive Pro. I really hope the Pro isn't affected by this glitch, because it would mean swapping to the original Vive every time I wanted to play IL2.
Aloha-Snackbar Posted April 8, 2018 Author Posted April 8, 2018 (edited) luckily the vive pro isnt affected, but hopefully the devs will find time to look into this one day for all of us on WMR devices :/ Edited April 8, 2018 by Aloha-Snackbar 1
chiliwili69 Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 And WMR devices are much more affordable than Vive Pro. And in the case of Samsung Odyssey you have same resolution than VivePro. And for a seated experience with HOTAS the WMR inside-out tracking system are more than enough. 1 2
guidom Posted April 10, 2018 Posted April 10, 2018 although the 3dmotogo plugin helps by modifying the IPD scale, it doesnt solve the core problem of WMR support. I would love to see 1C provide updated support for the new generation of headsets. Please everyone upvote this thread to get the devs attention.
=420=Snaxx Posted April 18, 2018 Posted April 18, 2018 I just switched from the Vive to the Odyssey. Disappointed to see its not supported. It feels like i'm flying a toy plane, with a little toothpick yoke! I hope this is fixed soon, as the mod didn't fix it for me. Traded one problem for another (warped world). 1 1
Tronorail Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 Having just purchased a WMR device, I am disappointed to learn that IL-2 doesn't support them due to the hardcoded IPD stuff. Have the devs commented on changing this? Switching the game from a hardcoded IPD value to something the user can adjust, either in settings or a config file, should be reasonable to do, I think. 1
-332FG-Gordon200 Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 I have been so disappointed with clarity in VR I scheduled an appointment with an Optometrist Friday to see if I'm a candidate for Lasik eye surgery. I'll be 70 Wednesday and that may be a factor. A friend my age had it done a few years ago and said it was like getting a new set of eyes and they looked it too. Afterward he looked like a teenager with wrinkly skin. ha https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LASIK
katdog5 Posted April 23, 2018 Posted April 23, 2018 I had LASIK a few years ago. one of the best things I've ever done. 1
Guinamo Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Hi. I buyed Il2 BOS and connected my PSVR with Trinus PSVR. The problem is that cockpit in airplane is to big and when i move my head everything is getting stretched. I dont have this problems in games like War Thunder, Project Cars and many other. Is there any way to fix this??
