Redeye Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 At ths point, the spitfire has the side hatch open when standing still and at idle- opnening and closing it as you taxi around the airfield. Considering that starting and stopping as well as having an open canopy is essential when taxying a spit, the constant opening and closing of the side hatch as a flight gets ready to take off is strange and unnatural. I humbly suggest that the parameters for an open side hatch should be: 1: Standing still on ground 2: Canopy open 3: Engines OFF. (Same for other Spitfire marks when they are released later) 4
Poochnboo Posted March 3, 2018 Posted March 3, 2018 I don't have the Spitfire. Do you mean to say that you cannot control the opening and closing of the door? That opening and closing as you're taxiing would get very annoying very quickly. If we can control the canopy, why not the side hatch? Yes, maybe connect the door to the engine control, then? You start the engine, the door closes. You shut down, the door opens. Makes more sense than connecting it to the movement of the airplane. I hope thay look into that because I'd like to buy the Spitfire.
Redeye Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 That is exactly what I mean, so yes. Either that we can open/close ourselves or that it opens/closes as engine is on/off on ground would be great. No reason not to get the spit though. Just an annoying detail that should be very easy to fix.
Redeye Posted July 28, 2018 Author Posted July 28, 2018 (edited) I am bumping this as I see it has carried over to the mk IX. It would be very nice if this request was considered, as the way it works now is highly unrealstic, especially since Spits used to take off with open canopies. Edited July 28, 2018 by Redeye
Trooper117 Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 If you start moving forward on the runway it shuts anyway...
Redeye Posted July 29, 2018 Author Posted July 29, 2018 Yes, that is not the problem. It is simply unrealistic. Image you and a flight of three are taxying towards the runways, stopping and adjusting numerous times as you go, and everytime you stop the doors goes up. The flight lines up, the mission is good to go and everyone are standing with their doors open. It is just not the way it is done, so I don't see why it is like that. Naturally, this is a very small problem, but people who love aircraft and history as you know are all about the little things to make it look "right", and this is certainly one of them.
