Nice job as always...the wait is going to be so worth it.

Honestly I was expecting that update a few months ago and waiting is hard but if I could survive while waiting for Kingdom Come Delivrance I guess I can wait for that update. :)

Now THATS an update. P39 cockpit looks extra nice. Would love to see the same love given to the P40 pit.

I'm excited to get that beautiful attitude indicator in the '39.  It's so much easier to transition to instruments with an artificial horizon rather than needle and ball, altitude and airspeed.  My crosscheck hungers for that attitude indicator.

What is this????

DD #190... One-Ninety.  and there is absolutely nothing to celebrate Focke Wulf’s finest.  The glorious Wurger.

Instead you try to fob us off with beautiful shots of the P-39 cockpit.    What a wasted opportunity.  I am boycott game!

Good decision, Feathered.  Better boycott now and avoid the (flaming smoke-trailing) rush into Mother Russia (scattered here and there) under the guns of the La-5FN Series 2's.

Just being supportive.  :-)

Wow, what can I add to the comments about the Aircobra that hasn't already been said? I'll be in that, I think. And I believe the A-20 is going to turn me into a bomber pilot! Of course, I'm going to have to pick up Battle of Kuban first, won't I?

Was there some sort of link between the forum post of the Dev Diary and the news section of the site? (https://il2sturmovik.com/news/) or does Dev Diary #190 need to be manually made there? Just wondering if the forum update broke something or not.

P-39 looking smooth as.

It's good to see that there's no rush to the finish line. Good things take time and massive good things are bound to take longer than expected. All good; big step.

All other changes and additions planned for 3.001 release are finished. Therefore, we plan to release this humongous update in 2-3 weeks.

No pls, that is so soon. I haven't gone thru the Kingdom Come Deliverance yet :-)

This is good news! Thank you very much for the great work you're doing with passion for us passionate flying nuts!

Just one thing, I'm a little worried about:
Why is it necessary to schedule all new things in one big, big update? Is there no risk with the distribution? I mean not
everybody can call them lucky in having a super light speed internet connection. Wouldn't it have been wiser to distribute
the hole package in lets say two or three portions?

Because, in case it needs a roll-back - which is always bad, yes and I really don't hope it never happens - you'd had better
control of the whole process. Just my thoughts.

Cheerio

"all we're doing we're doing for you"... Bryan Adams? Ha! Ha! Good stuff chaps, good stuff. I can feel 'an epiphany' on the (very near) horizon. Fun, games and shooting things down for all.

Oh yeah, I like the new Forum interface as well after initially (predictably) thinking Oh No!, it all drops into place. Testament to you guys in doing this (seemingly unnecessary) tweak and in such a way that is actually WORKS!!...

Come ON!! That's like suggesting that you get your kid a Scalextric set and insisting that the kid only has it in three - piece sections every week just in case one bit doesn't work!! Of COURSE it'll be okay and if there's bugs (and there will be, every users individual system is impossible to cater for) just let them know and you KNOW they'll be addressed... relaxxxxx.... ;)

Nice update. The P-39 cockpit looks much better than expected.

Its easy to heck your six.

So many improvments. Cant wait to see them. New campaign sounds very interesting.

Good job and nice to have the forum back :)

P-39 cockpit is simply stunning! A piece of art, can't wait for it.

very cool screenshots! The cockpit looks very nice!

I just wonder what those "25" mission types could be, what is there more than ground attack, intercept, and so on? Or is attacking a train and attacking a tank count as two? I assume so...?

oh man, 2-3 weeks, I can hardly wait! 8)

Wow the pit looks very nice!

But the real question is: will it sound ( or rather whine) as wild as inside a P63?   Would be so awesome!

...but they're different planes?

Posted

Yes, you are right, they're different, yet share similarities.

My post is rather a question concerning what is making the p63 produce such a strange whining sound. A guess in the videos comments is that it could be related to the transmission driveshaft and the gearbox.

And since both the p39 and p63 share similarities there i wondered if they would would both sound similar. It's just a speculation, i could be completely wrong.

I wonder if someone knowledgeable around here has an answer to these questions.

Re P39 cockpit.  Where's ma diggerty ashtray and beer holder???

Looking good.  2 weeks, huh?

Looks like I will have to bound and gag the wife when the update arrives. ))

That P-39 cockpit looks so realistic, have just read one of the books by the soviet Ace's who found the P-39 very robust and talks of kills against Fw 190 's. I found it twitchy in the original IL-2 but once I got the hang of it  I thought it was brilliant. Couple of weeks, no problem

Re the noisy cockpit, Astronaut Frank Borman has an article where he states it's really noisy because the engine is right behind you. I was reminded in the clip more of the some of the old diesel trains we had in the uk, more of the clatter part, than the whine, but that sure is noisy

Yep. The screenies of the cockpit make my yearning for a VR set-up so visceral, it's painful. Shomebody give me a magic wand! (It's funny - I'm so used to th'ol' beloved Spitfire cockpit in 2 dimensions, I don't have the same 'need'. But that cockpit makes me want-want-want that Oculus/Vibe/erm.../playstation-thing/magic-leap-fantasia/erm...). Also, hats off to the texture artist. A couple of DDs ago, I was thinking: OK, 3 months. Now, I'm being sure: it's two weeks. [or three.]

BTW, development guys, thanks for giving us Battle of Kuban ahead of time.  That's oodles of new terrain and time period to play with until the new aircraft and campaigns arrive.  Bravo Zulu.

Indeed, and it is a gorgeous map for sure. Having a blast with a PWCG campaign in the Spit over Kuban.

Really EPIC news fellows on the Kuban release..

And the Gods must be smiling on me as I finally got my gaming computer up and functioning extremely well after months of woes so I just used my laptop.

...Although I have an issue where the AUUS Sabretooth Z77 motherboard only recognises the  RAM as half what is present, (RAM is Corsair Dominator 2666mhz..8gb sticks x2..only recognised as and stably works as 2x 4gb 1866mhz RAM sticks. Got me stumped as I've checked BIOS (upgraded that to the latest edition as well) and anything else I can think of.. Any tech knowledge and input from the geniuses here will be greatly appreciated.

P-39 cockpit is absolutely amazing. Well done.

Posted (edited)

I'm new here (but an old hand IRL flying) so feel free to scorn and disregard my words (follow my wife's lead) but I saw a post somewhere that wanted as much fidelity on 'new' a/c as with Spitfires on CoD and the reply was that takes an astronomical amount of time and eats up a project and can't be done in general for new a/c.  Despite reading that the P-39 cockpit looks like a masterpiece to my inexperienced eyes.  I'm assuming all the new Allied and German a/c will have commensurate levels of detail.  If this is less detailed (or maybe just less clickable) than CoD so be it but it's out-flippin'-standing and I'm in awe.

While I'm still playing with takeoff and landings in my Yak-1b I'm continually impressed by the small paint flecking on the canopy ribs, the sun-crazing on the canopy, the shadow effects, all super real.  I'm tempted to push over to get some negative G on the a/c to find everything ever dropped by previous pilots and crew (pencils, nuts, coins).

I'm stunned how realistic the cockpit visuals are.

The release date works for me. We get back from os 27 Mar and I have my prostate removed 29 Mar. I then have 4 to 6 weeks of no physical exertion. Ergo many guilt free hours of coming to grips mit der biggenupdaten.

Sorry to hear about the surgery. I have a good friend having the same in a couple of weeks. All the best to you for success and a quick recovery.

I don't know if this will help or not, but I upgraded to 32g ram and my MB would only recognize only 16, and also the same as you the mhz was lower then the listed mhz on the new RAM.  I don't remember the mhz speed I had but my old setting was close to yours.  My tech guy stated that I needed to reset the bios setting for the RAM first in order for the MB to recognize the new RAM.

I don't know if you have already reset you bios, if not that would be my recommendation.

@EAF_T_Therion

I'm not comparing it to a Scalextric set, it's just an example of a situation! It's all meant in friendly banter so please don't take it as a personal slight. It's just the very thought of getting such a long - expected and magnificent upgrade/date in smaller doses is more than my flesh and blood could stand is all, like getting a long - awaited Scalextric set in several smaller pieces, that's the comparison!

No issues and I completely understand where you're coming from. Unfortunately for me I am a 56 year old who retains the aspirations and enthusiasm of a 7 year old!! Peace

If Germans laugh at you for flying a tricycle with a door from a '39 Buick sedan give then a 37 mm answer.  Take two.  They're small.

Yes, it shall be 2 or 3 weeks, let us say 3 weeks for optimism and one week more for the ironing out of all the little defaults that could appear into this very big patch, this gives us the date of the 1st April fools!

And until now the development team has always kept his dates.

The P-39 had a very cold but less noisy cockpit than most single engine planes of the same class. But it had a big advantage in the fact that the visibility, like you can see in the pictures, forward is better than for most single engine planes of the time.

I thank the development team for their efforts to finish was shall be without doubt a great if not the greatest patch! Thanks! :salute:

There is a little problem I have seen at first glance, the ddr4 is installed and the motherboard support ddr3?

https://www.asus.com/be-fr/Motherboards/SABERTOOTH_Z77/specifications/

Look into the manual of you mothrboard or on the site to see if the installed memory is compatible?! :salute:

Is there anyone who's seen a projected early release date or any projected dates for Flying Circus?  I've read the aircraft are already developed in Rise of Flight and the engine is present in BoS but they must create a WWI map.  Is there a thread on FC development?  At present I have no idea of the projected year.  I know staff's busy with the current update and Bodenplatte but someone knows the current target date for FC early release.
