Old theme?

I want the old forums back... I do not care about mobile blah, blah blah.... I use my PC to surf the web....

Any one who thinks they are going to revert the forum is delusional. I am all for complaining about it and having a good time, but there is just no way they revert it back. If they did that, there would just be another post asking if they could put it back again, and it will be a never ending cycle. 

 

P.S. The smilies need some fixing though I will say that much

All the white is burning straight into my soul though. Even using Flux it's just unpleasant to look at during the night.

New site looks far much better on my smartphone and tablet.

On my PC I prefer old forum.

It is just a matter of getting used to it.

And in the world there are much bigger problems like... filling up my empty glass with another Belgian beer.

I have no problem with the new forum layout.

And they undoubtedly put a lot of blood, sweat and tears in the last few days to get this done.

I also like the little sound it makes when a new post goes into the thread while  I am typing out a post to put in. I also really like the ability to just drag files over to attach to post.

I'm sure a few days of this forum and it'll seem like home. Most of us are here several times a day. Even several hours a day. We can all admit to that I think.

I would agree it's too stark white for my liking. Maybe a softer white or beige? With a splash of color?

I’m fine with the new style, I just want the “New Content” button back. This “Unread Content” replacement is a lot clunkier.

But I’m fairly sure that the game devs can do nothing about that - it’s up to the people who designed this forum software.

I do not like the new forum style.

• The "Unread content" sections is very awkward compared to the old "New content" method. It seems you have to view things at a post-level, not thread level, which is very inefficient.
• There is no way to see the BBcode (or whatever), used to generate the messages. That made it easier to format complex data (such as tables, explanations, etc.).
• The design is very "flat", making segregation of information difficult to discern.
• Additionally, there is a lot of wasted "space" in the presentation. If you look at where the actual content is, compared to the padding, margins, the SNR is very low. You have to do a lot more scrolling through whitespace in this new format.

Maybe in future, there will be option of using your own "theme", so people who use a PC, rather than mobile device, can configure a more efficient colour, demarcation and padding to make reading the content easier?

You can go to Activity/My Activity streams/Unread content/content types and select "topics" and save it, to create a replacement for our trusty old new content button( You will be missed ).

+100 on your other points.

 

Has anyone observed a ~20 sec. jitter and slight scrolling (without control input)  when you load a thread with many pictures in it, like i do?

 

I like the technical improvements though, seems a little faster  than before.

I've only used it for like one minute, but so far my main issue is the post actions area, which is very strangely placed. It should not be above the signature, and it should be anchored to the bottom (or top) of the post instead of sitting right below the post content.

I have no problems with it, other than it's simply too bright for me on PC, it physically hurts my eyes.

Now it's like Stalingrad in snow and sunshine, with the gamma set to 1.0. It would be great to have an option for a darker theme.

You know you can make the fonts larger by just pressing Ctrl and Plus? You can do that several times, to find the size you like.

Or maybe new glasses would be an option?

This new theme is already old in some forums and have all the setbacks already mentioned. On my desktop I did not gain any performance and the topic boxes on My Activity are huge, so I search for content as if I had tunnel vision. I see two topics now on the start page (My Activity), when before I saw 6 or 7 right off the bat. If I scroll down I can fit 4 topics on the page, when before I could see 14 (taking as a reference the ROF forum).

 

But it is all about progress, although it is a bit ironic.

Stylebot is your friend. It lets you apply your own CSS on a website. I tweaked a bit, and now the forums are at least tolerable for me.

The circles and stars are hard to hit on mobile devices, especially my phone. I much prefer the old mobile site but the new desktop\tablet experience is better IMO.

Sorry to say guys but this new layout is not for me, is far too bright and makes reading the text hard, gives me a headache.

 

Most online stuff is difficult with glasses, especially so when it practically blinds, please give it some kind of tint, more grey than White me thinks, take the edge off it a little.

You must be talking about forum sections, not the My Activity section (which is the important one). And resolution and browse settings will vary. Bottom line, I see less than a third of the topics I was used to see before.

It isn't that much different from the old one. Hell, be thankful they didn't go with this format like a few developers and communities seem to be doing. They're truly awful to use.

The worst one to navigate and just visually in my opinion is the Kingdom Come one. So I guess compared to that and the two you linked there we should be dancing in the streets with happiness that we got this one instead.

I don't like it at-all but I guess it's a case of learning to live with it.

I would prefer a night mode (white text/black background for two reasons. 

 

1) Having all the pixels on the screen except for text and images glowing white means they are burning up battery power.

2) It's really, really bright!

I like the new theme and extra functionality they have added but having an off white would be much more readable at night. Or maybe a 'night' theme with dark background and white text?

I got the feeling the Grey/Blue areas between each subject were added a few days after I first viewed the new scheme, not sure.

 

Maybe my eyes just got over the trauma of the first few visits though.

 

Still seems too bright to my eyes though, maybe they could have some kind of mask available so users could adjust the look themselves for their own screens.

 

 

My visits here are now much less than before the site changes because I find it uncomfortable trying to read the posts.

Where is the option to change the forum UI language? Region option? When I log in the  forum UI switches to russian language BTW I'm in english part of forum.

Everything is in russian, only the main Il-2 Sturmovik title bar is in english. I'm not in (forum.il2sturmovik.ru) im in (forum.il2sturmovik.com) really strange.

Scroll all the way down. Above all the licensing stuff you have a drop down menu for "Language" and links to the "User agreement" and "Privacy Policy". I'll edit in a screenshot, gimme a minute.
