[Familiy History] Looks like I have to fly for the Italians now

Pilots,

So, recently I did an Ancestry.com DNA test. I discovered who my real Father was that I have two brothers and a sister and many more family members. I was raised believing I was a Mexican-American my whole life when all this time I have not been.

My real roots are from Sciliy on my Great Grandfathers side (Vincenzo Trangale). My Great Grandmother whos name I have not discovered ye was Italian-Irish. So, yeah jokingly speaking I could literally be a 'Made Man' in the Mafia, LOL.

I just wanted to share this all with you since we are all family here. We fly together, we die together and we all have fun together.

Fresh of the boat. The 'Trangale Family'. My great grandfather is the baby.

Welcome back to Old Europe. Discovering unknown and nearest relatives ... wow. Must be a moving time for you.

For the method that company uses always keep in mind there are still some degrees of freedom in the results, rising with the (genetically) distance of the individuals:

That’s an incredible revelation. To think one thing about your family and identity and then find out otherwise. Incredible. So... flying the MC.202 more? :)

Yes and no, I've been a 110 guy for two years now. I can fly that plane blind now.

Given how family orientated Italian families can be, as opposed to say Northern Europeans, it's odd that you would have grown up with no family memory of your Italian roots given that your ancestors probably have only been in the States for a little over 100 years.

I personally find ancestry fascinating. I reacently did some DNA tests and it appears I'm most likely descended from Viking stock, all be it very short Viking stock ( more a twig really) and before that Sami ( most notably reindeer herders from Finland /Lapland). There's even a little bit of Eastern European in there as well, and all his time I've thought of myself as most likely Welsh / Ancient Briton.

Given your logic of associating with your ancestors it appears I should, instead of flying Spitfires, be flying Brewster Buffaloes and 109's adorned with Swastikas.

I'll have to wait for BoBP to come out. I'm pretty much a full on Yank over here.

My roots go back to before the the Revolutionary War. Got a county in Virginia named after my I don't know how many greats grandfather Brigadier General Thomas Mathews.

Amazing how a last name sticks around after all that time.

I'd say Italian is pretty prominent too. Guess I've got some family in Italy somewhere with a villa.

Shame none of that wealth could come my way.

Yeah, great gramps looks a bit like a smart bookie from Al Capone's crew - I guess it's just that style and clothes.
What a discovery! I bet it feels good to know your true roots now?
And did the ancestry reasearch also supply you with the photos? Sounds great!

Your gramp's bride looks stunning on that marriage photo - what a dress! Wow, they had style!

Apparently (form my Grandmother) she said my Great Grams dated Mr. Capone (I want pics so bad). Her name was Mary Christmas Mamola - maiden name. My Great gramps was Vincenzo Trangale.  Yeah it does feel good. I was raised believing I was Mexican. The webiste did not provide pictures to me directly. They were given to me by my long lost family. I had no idea they existed until two weeks ago. I always had my suspicions though. My brothers are both dark Mexicans and I was not, LOL. So yeah a little suspicious. But that picture of my family fresh off the boat from Sicily is in-valueble. I don't know many families who have such a photo. I believe it was taken in the mid 1880's or 1890's. The Irish came in the 9120's when my Gramdmother maried Joseph Norbit Durbin.
