Separate maps.

Hello, I want to ask if they will sell separate maps in the future as the German army progressed and then retreated again?

Aircraft 39, 40, 41 are available (if a person has purchased BoS + BoM + BoK) so it would be possible to use maps from the Barbarian operations. (for example: Brest-Litovsk, Minsk, Smolensk, Rzev, Tula, Kursk, Orel, Lvov, Zhytomyr, Kiev, Kharkov, Odessa, Crimea, Prochorovka, Tallinn, Leningrad, Murmansk, etc.) Or the motifs. thank you for answer Buffin :)

Someone would have to make those maps. They are incredibly time consuming to research and build.

I’m all for more maps, but they can’t just be conjured out of nothing.

It goes without saying that the maps must be created, it will not be easy and it will take a long time, but I thought it was a separate purchased product, and I just asked if it could be realized in the future, of course, gradually.

Some people from the Russian community were working on 3rd party maps, but there hasn't been any news on these projects for month, so I am not sure if they will ever get released.

Some maps are being/were being created by third party projects in similar fashion to how Velikie luki was 'added'

Odessa Map is still believed to on the way( last news was waiting for BoK new water tech), Murmansk was being made but creators ran into real life issues and as I understand progress is halted.

Karelia has been mentioned several times but info is scarce

As far as Dev created projects

A Kursk/Prokhorovka Map will be available for 'Tank Crew' but only expected 100 x 100 KM and how this will interface with BoS flight sim is unknown at this time

More maps (to buy) would be great but I fear the more niche market and large amount of work would possibly be financially prohibitive

Also early maps would need early versions of Yak Lagg etc. but the 'midwar' planeset for EF is filling out nicely now, but often there is always a missing 'key' A/C for a new theatre such as Hurricane for Murmansk or I-153 for Odessa (early)

It is a tricky proposition  :)

Cheers, Dakpilot

I wonder what's the most time consuming part when creating maps in BoX. It's probably not the creation of the basic elevation model, this can be done relatively easy in GIS programs when the necessary relief data is available.

Research. The landscapes of seventy years ago were much different from today. Roads, rail, agriculture, reservoirs, towns etc are all vastly changed, let alone trying to discover where the airfields were and what form they took. There is information on the web, of course, but it's totally scattered and never complete. Even something as simple as Midway Expanded for Il-2 46 took me months and months - I must have watched that John Ford documentary about a hundred times trying to see what buildings were where and what they looked like  .

Nothing wrong with fantasy maps. They make for some good flying fun.
