Yes please.

Hey Rani, we'll need the F4 Wildcat in there for the British carriers too. :salute:

I would prefer a slower approach with two releases at least: one centered on North Africa and the desert war and a second centered on the air-naval operations above Malta-Tunisia-Sicily

The desert one can use this kind of planeset:

Regia Aeronautica

CR42

Fiat G.50

Macchi 200

SM 79

Cant Z 1007

(Plus all appropriate german planes already in the game and the Macchi 202)

The Desert Air force can have:

Hurricane (appropriate model)

Spitfire VB and VC

P-40 (appropriate model)

Beaufighter

Wellington

(Pluss appropriate planes already in the game)

In this way we will have already several 1942 planes that can be used in the Malta-centered title so it's own planeset can be dedicated more to 1943 planes

That's a good idea of having a North African theatre to lead into the Med, which in turn could lead into a mainland Italian theatre.

I'd find it hard to disagree with plane set choices on either side, aside from to say that maybe the Breda Br.20 could go in somewhere to maybe save the SM.79 for the Mediterranean, as a torpedo-bomber.

I'd also be tempted to try to include the Dewoitine D.520 as it flew for the Vichy Air Force, against the Allies.

Regarding the P-40, depends whether we'd get a Tomahawk (P-40B/C) or a later version of the Kittyhawk we've got, which was introduced from 1942.

If so it'll need new loadouts options (they were used to carry up to six 250lb bombs).

If it's a much later version with a new engine but few other changes (P-40F, L, K) then I feel that the new engine should really be added as an unlock mod in the same way that the La-5 was upgraded to the La-5F.

They're both collector planes, after all.

The Hurricane again could be a mk IIb (twelve .303 Brownings and bombs) with armament mods available to allow for a IIc (four 20mm Hispanos) or IId (two 40mm Vickers anti-tank guns and two .303 Brownings).

The Spitfire again could be done like this as the only difference between the Vb and Vc was the wings with different armament.

Isnt at lot of that already in the pipeline with Team Fusion and TFS 5.0?

I tried to keep the planeset for 1942 that is why the Br.20 is out of it. About the P-40 I think that by 1942 they were mainly Kittyhawk I, Ia and II.

I'll be 100% honest. I got Blitz. I was really expecting to be torn between it and Great Battles. I've fired up Blitz about three times and played maybe an hour before coming back to Great Battles. I think CloD is good and the TFS work is great. Just after these years Great Battles feels more like home. I know how everything works and I can get going quick and easy. My personal opinion is I wish TFS would get to work for 777 1c creating content for Great Battles. Maybe helping to bring some good CloD features into Great Battles and working on a Med scenario for Great Battles instead of Blitz 5.0.

I totally get that. I'm the opposite in that I think ive played the GB series for less than a tenth of the time Ive played CLOD/Blitz even though ive owned both for almost the same time.. I was to be asked which is the better game id have to say that that would be like comparing Tuesday to piece of string. I think the GB series provides an excellent interface for the player. From an SP perspective the upcoming campaign modes are a boon too.

With 777 now taking on later European theatres, the Med gives TFS and the son of clod some room to develop and breathe. From the years of seeing the updates about what was to be the original 5.0 there are also many features in pipeline that may just bring the game closer to being a great platform for mission building and single player use. Whilst it uses a different engine and will never be compatible with the GB series, lets hope some commonality is found to make at least some aspects of it more familiar.

All that said,  If 5.0 comes out and is just 4.5 with sand then I'll be the first to join the clamour for GB s to invade the med. For now though I think the work of TFS and Blitz still deserves - and is able to justify - its place at the table.

I agree totally what the two of you have said. I am vastly looking forward to 5.0, and will buy it almost no qustions asked. I have found myself moving away from CloD in favor of GB because of the constant niggles and missing bits of the puzzle from CloD. If they can realise the potential of it and iron out all those niggles I will play 5.0 about the same amount of the time as GB I think.

TFS will do 1940-1942 N Africa in 5.0 patch so i would have no interest in buying same stuff again in BoX, BoX should do same as they did with BoBp and go for mid to late war over Italy, and leve early med and africa to TFS if they dont fail with TFS5.

I would go for Battle of Anzio , small map like this for example:

around 340-420km 1:1 scale

https://ibb.co/k6nFyS

Half is sea and tarain is interesting to fly over with all hills and mountains, and you could do few 43-44 operations on it.

And this planset:

RE.2002 Serie II ( bombs and torpedo)
M.C.205V Serie III (bombs, droptanks)
SM.79bis (bombs and torpedo)
Do-217K ( bombs, Fritz-X guided bombs, Hs 293 guided rockets)
G.55 Serie I (Colectable, torpedo, bombs)

Seafire LF Mk.III (droptank, bombs)
Hurricane Mk.IV ( rockets, bombs, 40mm gunpods)
B-26C-25 (bombs )
P-51C-10 (droptank, bombs ) or Spitfire Mk.VIII (droptank, bombs)
Mosquito B Mk.IV (colectable, bombs)
