Ju87 Bombing

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Getting back into the game after a break. New pc. Etc.

I'm not new to this sim, but I'm trying to get used to the JU87 despite it being way underpowered.

Here's the thing. I can drop bombs in every other AC, but this puppy won't let go.

What am I doing wrong?

All the keys are allegedly set.

Not sure really past the obvious stuff. Try another bomber, make sure u have taken bombs......Maybe rebind and restart.

Turns out the keyboard is the only option to reprogramme delete.

Try holding the bomb release. The Stuka has a bomb swing so you may need to hold pickle until it comes off. I never really noticed because that is second nature to me from CCRP bombing in Falcon.

All keys are rebindable, you need to click in the appropriate box under the controller.

Ahh I might know the issue!

If u have TIR the delete key gets locked and will only work for TIR.

Try change it to a stick button. I have it on space and my stick coded to the space key. Space can be dangerous thou!

Are you talking in a standard dive bombing run?  I'm pretty sure that the bomb doesn't swing away until you give it some positive G's...press the bomb release, and then pull out decisively, and it should go.   I think if you just keep boring in on the target after pressing the release, you aren't going to hear it delatch until you start the pull out.

If you press the "release" button in the dive while pulling negative G, it will still drop the bomb but only when positive G. What I am saying you don't have to press "release" once again while pulling positive G's from negative G, it will follow the "press" command you did already in negative Gs.

It must be some kind of "bind" issue.

Respectfully, I think you meant to type, "in a dive while pushing negative" g.  ;)

In the OP's case it -might- be a bind issue...but what I'm saying is that if you are screaming down on the target at say 80 degrees, and you release the bomb, the Trapeze isn't going to swing the centerline bomb out clear of the prop until you begin your pullout from the dive.  So, if the pilot presses the bomb release, but doesn't pull away, the bomb is still basically with the aircraft and isn't going to unlatch until the pilot begins the pullout, and only then will it be heard coming off the rack. I could certainly be wrong about this, since my time in the Stuka is about 2 hours off-line, and I'm not exactly Ice Ulrich Rudel, but I think this is how that mechanism works and how it is supposed to work.  In other words, I think we are both saying the same thing.

Exactly!
