LLv34_Temuri Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 TAW does has that sense of penalty and personal risk to it but ... When flying on it recently, there was minimal effort in pilots on both sides to engage the Ground Targets. Pilots were not dying but they were not doing the required ground work to get the tactical ground battle going. Then you will get teams on comms on the German side who gang up and sit high waiting to swoop anyone who on the VVS side did mud moving. ... I beg to disagree. The last three Tuesdays I've been on TAW have had the Axis side destroying attacking tanks. In addition, LeR3 has done bombing raids on airfields by both: high alt level and jabo style dive bombing.

Temuri has a point, this campaign in taw I've watched blue do some very impressive teamwork and attacks. There will always be those guys at 7k doing no good at all except making pretty contrails and trying to pad stats while relying on superior aircraft performance. But hands up those that haven't ever done any of that.
TexasWarbird Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Everyone is typing these long passages, But you really need to do only one important thing.....clean your dang screen. Make sure it's completely crystal clear - don't confuse any specs with an enemy.
-SF-Disarray Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 I like the spots on my screen, they keep me company. I named them too! Learning vertical maneuvers is a good idea too. Horizontal maneuvers are useful but I find most people don't have trouble picking them up as 2D maneuvers aren't that hard to conceptualize. But a player who has a good grasp on vertical maneuvers and spacial awareness can play havoc in a dogfight, especially in a high power to weight ratio plane like a 109.
marklar Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 I know there are some folks who have some misgivings about getting on TeamSpeak or Discord, but I have found that, overall, most people are very friendly and happy to help a new comer. Some people just don't like to talk to strangers over the phone or online voice chat. If I don't know someone in real life I am not going to talk to him on teamspeak. In game chat is my only way of communication. Unfortunately it's a pain in a butt for VR users.
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 Here is a simple tactical consideration for MP noobs. Fly a longer route to the front, gain altitude, cross the lines and remain within 8-10 kilometers of friendly lines. Make all of your attacks while pointed toward or parallel to friendly territory. If you get bounced during your attack you can turn toward your allies and have a better chance of dragging your opponent into a friendly bounce. Attacking too deep or pursuing too long over enemy territory at lower altitudes is death for beginners.

II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted February 21, 2018 Posted February 21, 2018 If I were giving generic advice I’d just say “Stay high. Stay fast.” But the above advice is good tactics for new guys.

Is that because your shy? There's a built in microphone in that rift And I think you'd be surprised how friendly and welcoming the voice chat people are compared to those writing in that chat.
1./KG4_OldJames Posted February 24, 2018 Posted February 24, 2018 Bear in mind that this game attempts to be as realistic as possible, and some rl pilots went through the war without a kill to their name. I was escorting two he111s on finnish server, and I spotted an enemy trying to grab a couple of kills, I knew that my dogfighting skills are close to zero, but by buzzing around him I managed to keep him occupied and away from the bombers until he blew his engine and disengaged. Even then I resisted the easy kill to a.stay with the bombers, b. Not run out of fuel, and c. Stay alive. No kills, but a successful, semi-realistic mission.
