Long missions and no enemies

What do I need to change in the advanced config so there is an increase of a chance to encounter enemies?

 

Also a bit shorter distance missions if possible, what needs to be changed  in the advanced config.

 

Another question, is it possible to zoom in the mission map in the PWCG program? the one that shows right after the briefing.

Zooming works on briefing map.  Use mouse wheel to zoom in or out.

 

Are you flying German or VVS with the lack of action missions?  If German and you are flight leader, keep your alt to under 3k meters and see if that helps.  Flying 6k on Eastern Front is a bit pointless but German CAP's seem to enjoy talking to Angels.  Hard to deal with when you are not flight leader.  Wonder if there is a means to alter way point altitude in the mission briefing.

 

Mission length varies.  I took off on an intercept mission and was directed within 20 seconds of flight to intercept a strike group.  Not far from front lines /  air field.  A 40 min flight for a CAP isn't to bad by my book and if boring, practice formation flying or go down on the deck, find plumes of smoke and knock off some ground targets.

Altitudes can be changed in the briefing - no need to be flight leader.  Front line patrols seem to generate the most contact followed by intercepts.  Scrub offensive patrols.

 

Map icons on will help locate enemies.

In advanced config->mission limits:

Eliminating climb waypoints will shorten missions.

Choosing air starts in advanced config will shorten missions even more.

Hiking up min and max enemy flights will definitely help with contact.

Hiking up the max enemy fighter flights might help because enemy fighters will find you instead of vice versa.
