Start up game shutdown on Steam and downloaded IL2

Hi, had BOS & BOM on steam but wanted BOK so downloaded the game to run independent of steam. Steam version ran fine.

 

Get an MS error message as soon as the game loads.

 

I have noticed that the first time I launch the game I have to close the IL2 screen as it hangs with a "please wait" message for ages. Also when I close the launcher it hangs with a "closing background apps" message and I have to close it in task manager.

Re loaded the steam version and its now crashing as well!

Reinstalled non steam game to a different location. Deleted the config file, unchecked read only on the folder and unchecked the launcher "seed when downloaded" and checked the "prefer web distribution". Game ran fine when started from IL2.exe and also the launcher.

 

Now to fly some missions.

Update.

 

It looks as though my joystick is causing the issue. Its a Saitek Cybork evo force. As soon a s the thing is turned on BOS crashes when I try and start the mission.

 

Anyone else have this issue?

Can you not access BoK content theough your Steam BoS?
