When I was playing warthunder and was wondering if i should switch to this, I remember the first thing I saw while watching a video was the cockpit shaking when starting the engine and that was enough to convince me to get Il-2. I know I am nit-picking, but I am not getting this effect in VR and I miss it. That won't cause any discomfort, if that's why it was removed.

Also, It should be possible to approximate our ear positions in relation to the VR headset. It would be awesome if the wind sound effect was caused by sticking an ear outside the cockpit rather than the front of the headset, as it currently is. If i am sitting right in the center and rotate my head around, I can hear the wind from outside the cockpit when looking left and right. This small detail would help a lot with immersion.

And finally, the only thing that causes me discomfort is when I move the headset outside the allowed range it gets "stuck". I get why this is needed, but it could be slightly less restricting. Especially when leaning forward, it seems like there is an invisible wall in front of the instrument panel. I am not asking for total freedom like in warthunder (you can stand up and check your 6) but because it can cause nausea when it happens, it shouldn't happen when it doesn't have to.

I am not mentioning the zoom because it's in another thread. +1 to that.

Overall, I am really glad I got Il-2 and even more I can play it in VR. This experience is priceless.

You can remove the had movement being stuck in the settings, somewhere in the camera settings section.

afaik this option doesn't do anything... am i missing something?

And if it wasn't obvious, I meant to say you hear the wind in the left/right headphone when the left/right ear is outside the cockpit

You can turn off head restriction on normal difficulty. Turning it off doesn't have an effect on expert difficulty.

Yea, the cockpit bump is annoying, but I think I'm slowly starting to get used to it. Unfortunately, most MP servers use expert difficulties, which restricts your head movement in the cockpit. There are a few that don't, but I just find myself dealing with it.

Cockpit shaking in VR doesn't really occur unless your head stays against the canopy or that invisible wall before the gunsight.

Keep your face against the invisible wall and you will see it again. I think they removed the feature while your head is moving in VR.

Do most people restrict head movement or not? I find that otherwise I get an immersion breaking effect where my head ghosts out through my plane but it would give one a bit less limitation.

From what I've seen on these forums, I suspect almost everybody who primarily plays single player turns the head bump thing off (I do) and just learns not to stick their head through the cockpit to the point of getting those graphical anomalies.  MP is of course a different story, since most servers seem to use expert settings that don't allow that setting to be turned off.  I think the fear of VR "cheating" without the head limits is probably overrated, but then again some people will exploit anything so who knows.  Personally, I'm not usually inclined to play MP much anyway so it's not a big deal. However, since I refuse to fly with the head bump thing turned on (it's just way too distracting to me) it does keep me from just dropping into MP sometimes to check it out.

In the more populated MP servers you will encounter the head limitation. Fly enough with it and you get used to it, the only bump I don't like is the forward motion invisible walls on fighters and some of the bomber invisible walls even on the sides.
