ACG_Woza Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I'd of told you it was "ok" nothing special, left a lot to be desired. But wow!! over the past year, the progress and vision has been incredible. I'm an avid aviation enthusiast, have been since I was a little soil eating - crying and shitting organism. I own pretty much everything out there platform wise, but wow has BoX impressed me! especially since I fly in VR now, such an incredible experience and exciting time for the platform. I honestly think if Jason and 777 continue the way they're going, they will have the monopoly on the market. Outstanding job so far! Woza. 1
katdog5 Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I couldn't agree more. Just wait until we have p38s, p51s and p47s...
ACG_Woza Posted February 6, 2018 Author Posted February 6, 2018 Yup! really cannot wait - what a brilliant direction to take the platform!! Especially looking forward to the P38L and the Tempest V
dburne Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Agree wholeheartedly! They sure won me back over the last year.
-TBC-AeroAce Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I've never left but tbh I am getting frustrated by the list of little bugs that have been around forever and lack of general polishing. Don't get me wrong it is a truly great game but by no means as good as it could be
OrLoK Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Yes, there might be bugs or legacy issues but i'm happy with 95 pc amazingness and 5pc irritant when it comes to this sim. There's nothing else like it out there. It's just taken a while to mature. Like a fine wine or smelly cheese. 1

I really don't care about the fly and fish it out but it bugs me it managed to get in there. Edited February 6, 2018 by AeroAce 1

1_Robert_ Posted February 9, 2018 Posted February 9, 2018 I came to the party late. After many years of the original Il2 and a brief attempt at CliifsOfD a few years back, the hobby got shelved. Then I purchased VR and gave BOx an attempt this past year and WOW. I never experienced any of the main technical issues, just the brilliant product that we have now that is amazing in VR. On top of all that there are more substantial updates on the horizon and hopefully we will see Pacific one day as flying a Hellcat off a carrier in VR will be icing on the cake for me. Great community, great developers, I'll be around for a while

Plurp Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 = Yeah it also needs more customization. It's a brilliant game, I love it to bits, but its very straitjacketed! You should be able to customize almost everything in the options menu, but especially the difficulty and realism settings. On SP I should be able to choose realistic everything except navigation if I so wish and I don't see any plausible reason why we still do not have this option. Only being allowed 'normal' or 'expert' is insane, but the game also needs a better or rather more accessible mission editor! Don't get me wrong I love it and it's done some things very well but I just don't understand why on SP it forces people to play in a certain way and doesn't allow anyone to customize their own settings. In the campaign, after choosing your plane, on the select mission template screen unselect normal/expert where neither is selected and click ok. After you select accept at the next screen you should be back at the map with the mission preplan. Now the realism will be labeled custom, click that and you can choose what difficulty you want.

CrazyDuck Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Nice to see someone stop, look back and appreciate everything we already got instead of nervous questions about the dates of future releases.
Finkeren Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 I have been along since before 777 took over RoF from neoqb. I always had a sense, that this sim was gonna turn out great and would sometimes get defensive towards it, even when it wasn’t entirely justified, but I have to admit, that back around the time when BoS launched officially it was hard to keep a positive attitude. The community was largely disappointed, the game content was basic at best, the sim itself was decent but still lacking in many aspects. It was obviously a diamond in the rough, but getting it to truly shine would require the community to grit their teeth and continue supporting the sim, even if it wasn’t quite what they had hoped for and the devs to take some of the hard criticism to heart and settle for a long haul. Fortunately both things happened and halfway through BoM development things started looking a lot brighter with most of the unpopular design choices being reversed, content expanded and many, many bugs and performance issues ironed out. BoK development has been nothing but incredible progress on top of incredible progress. Far from being a franchise that has burned itself out, IL-2 now seems as strong a brand as ever and with 3.001 I think we can finally say, that we will have a full-fledged successor to the original IL-2 with all the bells and whistles. Now the sim is expanding in three different directions at once, it will be very interesting to see, how the team will handle such a monstrous challenge. My confidence is pretty high at this point. Good times ahead. 3

Fully agree, the past 12 months have been fantastic for this sim/franchise! 1
FTC_Passion Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 (edited) Have to say I completly agree. I was sceptical coming from cliffs and intially thought it wasn't a patch on cliffs, but after a few weeks of playing it it's far superior. Graphically it's fantastic and it does a better job of making you feel immersed. I was flying through flak the other day getting bounced around with the shells going off and my cockpit shaking whilst trying to hold formation. Something I've not experienced in any other sim. Hoping that VR will enhance this further. It would be nice to have a few more servers offering large numbers but hopefully this will change. Edited February 12, 2018 by ACG_Passion
SCG_Space_Ghost Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 If you would've said that a year ago about BOX, I would've said you're nuts. Jason taking the reigns on production and rallying the team has certainly done wonders but the potential was always there.
1./KG4_OldJames Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 "Oh I remember il2, I'll give it another go in a couple of months"...and I did.
BladeMeister Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Have to say, as Finkeren, I have been along for the ride since the NeoQube days and the last year has turned BOX around. BOS was a complete letdown for me, other than the graphics. Once the team saw the reactions, made the project management change and then actually stepped back and looked at the product they had released, they honestly started changing the elements of BOX that were holding it down. It says a lot about a Team and an Owner that can turn a project that was failing around and make it a success. Now if they will just invest in an AI that is smart, fun to fight and adds some human falability characteristics we will be in good shape. Single players are Starving for a good AI in CFS. This will be a huge new customer base if they can do this. Here is to Hoping for the future of BOX. S!Blade<>< 1
Finkeren Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 I think AI improvements will have to happen along the way to BoBP. For now they have focused on just getting the career mode ready for 3.001, but from then on they will have to work on AI improvements, because once the novelty of the career mode wears off, it will only really be as good as the AI allows it to be.
Livai Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Remember me, how IL-2 wanna try to make CloD even it fails just to lost this fight. Get up to start it again keep on Anno 2014 making those new mistakes with BoS just to lost another fight. Messed up, falling down, hitting the ground same as birds do. Birds don't just fly they fall down and get up. IL-2 won't give up, no IL-2 won't give in until IL-2 get it right, and keep on getting it right! Look how far IL-2've come. 2018 IL-2 on the lead.............wanna try everything.............
ACG_KaiLae Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 It seemed at some point about a year and a half ago the attitude changed from “here’s our game, take it or leave it, we don’t care what you think” to “how can we make this better?” Actually paying attention to your customers and giving them what they want makes a huge difference.
ShamrockOneFive Posted February 13, 2018 Posted February 13, 2018 If you've been on the forums for a while I think you'll notice that, over time, the devs have responded to many of the critiques and requests coming from the community. I know some are frustrated by what may appear to be a slow pace but I honestly think its not a slow pace. We're seeing stuff get into patches and issues being solved that we've identified and the devs have addressed them. A lot of the conversations we were having before we're not having now because problems have been solved. There's always more of course but the strides taken in the last year in particular have really hit the mark. That 1CGS seems committed to ensuring that Battle of Stalingrad and Battle of Moscow haven't been left behind makes the whole series that much stronger. It takes time to make something great but they are doing it. Surely.

I don't think it's any big secret that since Jason took charge the entire focus of this series has shifted, grown and has started branching out to other theaters and intends to continue its expansion. We're just along for the ride, but as Shamrock said we do get listened to. It makes me and I think most others feel involved with the game.
blitze Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 Almost a year ago, I was on the fence with the BoX series. It had been a while since I had done any sim flying and back in the day, Il2 was mostly it. After hearing of some of the work being done during the last year I decided to have a look and since, I have bought all 3 BoX products and am enjoying flying again, ok well being a target drone for others )). It is not only 777 but also Pat and others who are part of this community and the online server hosts that make for a great experience with much to look forward to in the future. Especially when I start dabbling in VR which I believe will be quite something. At the moment I await patiently developments in both 3.001, BoK and my VR HMD and I look forward to both when they are ready to be in my hands. 1
