Blackhawk_FR Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Hello all, just a small question: Why this version (summer 43, it's somehow a D3 with 2xMG151/20 instead of MG17) has not been scheluded with BOK?
Cybermat47 Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 I’d love to see it in the game. Those 20mms should be a lot better for strafing.
Blackhawk_FR Posted February 5, 2018 Author Posted February 5, 2018 Exactly what I was thinking. And for self defense also
HandyNasty Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 The wingspan got increased from the D-3 to the D-5. As such, it would require a slightly retouched visual model, flight and damage model (beyond the "just add them cannons"). I agree that it would be a cool to get it, I just want to mention that it would require more work from 1CGS than just "add them 20mm's" as one might think. That's prolly the main reason it hasn't been done (yet)

This definitely calls for a brand new plane and won't fit into the "unlocks" scheme. I guess they dropped it on the road to make room for the duck. So many planes left to make... ShamrockOneFive Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Hello all, just a small question: Why this version (summer 43, it's somehow a D3 with 2xMG151/20 instead of MG17) has not been scheluded with BOK? The devs have time enough per project to make approximately 10 aircraft. So they have to pick and choose which aircraft will best fit the scenario and work for them. In the "attack plane slot" we have the Bf110G-2 which if you take away would probably cause some consternation in the community as it was oft requested. The Ju87D-3 was still in use alongside the D-5 so it works a little better - there's certainly a number of people who would like to see the D-5 Stuka (and the B-3) and you can count me as one of them but other aircraft took priority. Have to be choosy with which aircraft get modeled. 1
CrazyDuck Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Considering we already have the Ju 87 G-1 basically as a weapons mod of the D (which it really was), it could probably also be done with the 20mm MG151/20. The D-5 however does have a considerable larger longer wings, which might be a problem to implement as an "option" on existing aircraft.
Archie Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 I'd prefer the B2 myself. To me that is the 'iconic' Stuka. One day...
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 (edited) Unlike the BK.37 gun pods the MG151/20 guns on the D-5 were no field mod (Rüstsatz) but factory fit. Thats one reason why the D-5 was produced as a seperate model among other changes done to the airframe, wings and avionics. Would be nice to have someday especially with a D-5N night bomber modification (with exhaust flash hiders and nightime flying equipment). Edited February 5, 2018 by 6./ZG26_5tuka 1
KG_S_Kalle_Kalutz82 Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 As I have read and finished the war diary from Hans-Ulrich Rudel few weeks ago and got into this material even further on other paths - the D-5 were pretty much the CAS pilots wanted and got! Rudel even prefered the D-5 and the G' models over the FW190 in the "Schlachtgeschwader"'s..... ....the only problem with CAS and bombing in IL-2 seria in common = you only fly on a tied up space, lets say 100x100km, so with 84 players every bomber or CAS pilot WILL be spotted...... Result = they are getting shot down as own interceptors wont view the team but only their own kill statistic ---> further result = sooner or later less bomber and CAS pilots....... Sorry for off-topic.....whiskey-soda 2
Field-Ops Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 This plane is basically in the same boat as the BF-110 F. Id love to see it, but I think This goes best into a pack that covers 1942-43 Italy which would include both the Bf110 F and Ju-87 D5.
TFS_Knuckles Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 As i know D5 have water cooler shut off valve. Thus, If one of cooler was leak by hit I guess D5 can close shut off valve to stop water leakage and fly with one cooler left. 4
