ScottHill2 Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 I have an apple so need to get a reg PC before one of these comes out . Any ideas on what I need to play all three without hiccups ? Thanks
6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 (edited) Well, I play on an Acer Aspire with 8GB Ram, i7 with 2.2 up to 3.2 GHz, nVidia GTX 850M, 64bit and Win 8 SP2 and a 256 GB HDD. FPS are OK on Balanced Settings and most Performance Killers turned off. Edited February 5, 2018 by 6./ZG26_Klaus_Mann
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 (edited) If you're willing to lower some settings and play at 1080p resolution with some drops in performance, look for the following: GTX 850M or equivalent GPU Core i3 CPU or better at least 4 GB of RAM For stable performance at fairly high settings, you'll need something more like this: GTX 1050 GPU Core i5 CPU 8 GB of RAM That's probably the best performance per dollar that you can get. Of course, you can go higher, but you end up paying a lot. The following parts will give you very high laptop performance: Core i5 or i7 xxxxHQ GTX 1070 Again, I wouldn't recommend this unless you want to spend a lot of money. A moderate laptop with a GTX 1050 or similar will offer excellent performance. Do keep in mind that quite a few months will pass before Flying Circus, Bodenplatte, or Tank Crew are released. Naturally, that means that faster hardware will appear by then. Also, it is possible that the system requirements will change due to game engine modifications. Gambit21 Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 8gb of good RAM will do it, and an i5 is plenty but recommend AMD builds at this point (I run a 7) GPU is most important. 970 will do it if you're not at 4K

It'll be quite hard to 'build' a 4K laptop with a GTX 970! Other than that, the advice is true. Do note that desktops typically offer far better performance per dollar than laptops. =TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Also keep in mind Graphic quality is not the same on laptop V pc.GTX1070MIS NOT the same asGTX1070They use different drivers which alter texture quality and reduce pixel counts and so on.

Nvidia changed the way they do mobile for this generation. There is no weak "M" version. It is correct for previous generations, however. Also, the mobile and desktop chips still aren't exactly the same. Edited February 5, 2018 by Mitthrawnuruodo
Hirachi Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 When I am away from the Desktop i use a MSI GS63VR Laptop. got i7, 16 GB ddr4 and GTX1070 8Gb. it not a bad laptop beside the fact that if you don't plug it in it will kill the battery really quick (about 2 hours of battery life when using on high graphic)
[N.O.G.F]_Cathal_Brugha Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 (edited) I use an Asus Republic of Gamers laptop for IL-2. my old one was i7-4720HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.59GHz 16GB ram GTX965m. It worked good with most of the graphics on high. I now have an Asus RoG with Intel i7-7820HK 2.90GHz 16GB ram and Nvidia GTX1070 8GB. What you need to look for is a Gaming laptop, and make sure it cools well. There are some that don't have so good a cooling system so the CPU and GPU slow down. My brother and I both use and like Asus RoG series. I also suggest you go for the best and most powerful you can afford. Edited February 5, 2018 by Cathal_Brugha

Actually, the current mobile Nvidia GPU's are not the castrated GPU's of mobile computing old and are on par to the desktop. I am using a Gigabyte Aero 15X has an i7 7700HQ Nvidia 1070Max-Q (means it is undervolted and runs a little under desktop 1070 speeds but with much less power draw and faster than 1060 desktop GPU) Couple that with 16Gb Ram and SSD drive - it is q good package. At home I use mini DP to a 27" monitor and in High quality settings at 1440p Single Player is giving me around 100fps +/- 20 If it get's bogged down for VR when I get it, I will use Thunderbolt to an external GPU ( whatever is available when I need) and see how that goes. If crappy then I will build a Ryzen 2 system around the external GPU. Undervolting the CPU on these can help a little as well, keeps it cooler without the CPU needing to throttle down.

If crappy then I will build a Ryzen 2 system around the external GPU. I would not recommend external Thunderbolt GPUs, especially for VR. The performance can be poor due to the bottleneck in the connection. Also, Ryzen does not perform well in VR. Unless AMD delivers huge improvements with Ryzen 2, this is unlikely to change. BeastyBaiter Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 My recommendation: CPU: i5 or R5, highest clock speed you can get GPU: GTX 1050 TI or better yet a GTX 1060 6GB or RX 580 (do not get anything with an "m" at the end, those are mobile versions and are awful) RAM: 8GB minimum, 16GB is better (you'll use it for more than IL2 I'm sure) With that in mind, these look like prime options: GTX 1050 TI option: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAEYJ6PT0370 GTX 1060 option: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA6R46TJ6706 Desktop with RX 580 option: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAEYJ6RN5973

I don ' t know if is enough to play VR. Is sameone using the same laptop to play IL2 ?
