KatieLuna Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 I can't see anythying on snow maps, it's all so bright, and even runways are impossible to find without using wierd rendering gliches like looking through specific bits of the canopy. Any help?
Wolfram-Harms Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Well, for a start, you can define GAMMA CORRECTION in the GRAPHIC settings of the sim. Maybe yours are too high? Play with them and reduce them. I have mine reduced to 0.8 for example. BUT - it IS hard to see anything clear in snowy landscapes and full sun light.Early polar region explorers got snow blind; the Inuit use special "shades" to resist the huge amount of light. And when the rivers are overfrozen, the navigation IS much more tricky. However - I hope I could help a little. More will follow, I'm sure. Don't give up! Or move to a summer map?
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 It would be helpful to know the graphics settings as well as the hardware that is being used.
ShamrockOneFive Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Your monitor matters a lot here. With a higher quality IPS panel and a good colour gamut you'll see more shades and have better contrast between subtle colours. A cheaper monitor will not be able to do that as well.
KatieLuna Posted February 4, 2018 Author Posted February 4, 2018 (edited) SPECS: gtx960, core i5-4460, 8GB ram. running on SSD. Monitor is this one http://www.itinstock.com/ekmps/shops/itinstock/images/dell-2009wt-km515-ultrasharp-20-silver-black-widescreen-lcd-tft-monitor-vga-dvi-47620-p.jpg so probably pretty crap by today's standards. settings were at high gfx options: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1291904118 I do usually play on summer maps, but you gotta get around you know? =TBAS=Sshadow14 Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 (edited) If setting the Gamma to 0.8 dont work enough you can go into config file and set it lower if needed. The best option is reshade really This will allow you to- Adjust gamma and exposure better and other colours and turn up the very very low colour saturation in this game as its EU pallet.- With reshade you can easily spot all Taxiways on winter maps- With reshade you can clearly see all winter runways from 20-30km if weather allows.(below pics been resized and compress so colours a lot darker than ingame and a bit more vibrant in picBut an example of what reshade does.)How to install it - check for guides on forum, sorry i have already helped about 25 people in pm's or discord install it Also these are my settings you can adjust as you wish every colour channel.WHAT MY WINTER MAP SPOTTING IS LIKE (See i could clearly see runway from 20-30km if there was one there )SUMMER MAP LOOK (darker due to resized pic) Edited February 5, 2018 by =TBAS=OccludedLight14
SJ_Butcher Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 @=TBAS=OccludedLight14 could you please share your settings in reshade? I am only asking for the file, not how to install it etc
Wolfram-Harms Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 (edited) Hmmm... Never heard of Reshade (a link would have been nice), but I can tell one thing about the last image: the colors are much too dynamic and satturised for Central Europe, and so I guess also for Russia. It turned the engine hood camo of that He 111 into the camo of maybe a central Africa camouflage. It's way off. But of course, everyone should set it up to their own likes, np. A thing everybody could try instead of buying any additional programs is, to check if your monitor has more than just one "color mode". My ASUS VN279 offers in the menue SPLENDID: "Standard Mode", "sRGB", "Scenery Mode", "Night Mode", "Theater Mode" and "Game Mode". The last one does something very similar to the above picture - it satturises colors and adds more dynamic. FOR ALL WHO WANT MORE SATTURISED OR DYNAMIC COLORS Easy way Check out if your monitor has "Scenery Mode" or "Game Mode" - these two might already do the job as per default settings. Advanced On modern monitors, you could then still tweak and adjust the chosen mode to your likes and save that. You should also be able to return to the "standard setting" of each mode - so you can't wreck anything. Now, before playing a game, you just enter the menue of the monitor and switch from "Standard Mode" or "sRGB Mode" to "Game Mode" or "Scenery Mode". Edited February 6, 2018 by Wolfram-Harms
Wedgewood Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 A properly calibrated monitor will appear much more dim than it will using it's default settings. If the Devs used a calibrated monitor to set the scene than you must also use similar settings to see the scenery as it was meant to be seen. Try lowering your brightness to about 25-30 to see if that makes a difference.
