I seem to be losing some controls...

I recently have started losing some controls during flight, it is strange, what I have noticed so far is a lose my F2 exterior view, and my Map toggle ( M key ).

I have not seen anyone mention this yet, so I am going to assume it must be something on my system perhaps.

I created a profile for my Warthog and am using it , however all events test out ok when viewing in the event viewer, or notepad for that matter. I will lose those two ( only ones I have noticed so far), in the sim, but when I exit out and test, the proper keys are generated, ie F2 and M keys...

Really strange, not sure how the sim would lose recognition of those keys when they are still functioning properly? I even try just hitting the F2 button, and the M button on the keyboard whilst in flight, and they do not work. This seems to be random, happens sometimes after a few minutes into the flight, sometimes quickly, sometimes not at all...

Hmm, well I just loaded up a previous profile for my Warthog I had created with the Target GUI , and did not have the problem.

So I am now wondering if there is something in the script of the new profile ( I created it with the script editor) that has caused it. Who knows what it might be though...

Now I am perplexed, maybe a should try a recovery since that has happened to you as well...

Thanks,

I sometimes lose my ability to zoom out of gunsight mode, or else the view resets itself so that default becomes something like "focus on scratch in lower left of canopy".

I assume its because I'm hitting a couple of buttons at once, or that my old joystick is misbehaving.

If anyone has a similar experience, please tell us.

check key bindings, may be doubled up,

Thanks, I double checked and nothing really stood out other than things like mouse wheel , etc.

No doubling of the F12 or M key at least.

I am going to try decreasing the keyboard rate in my script file for this profile a little and see if that makes a difference, maybe it is processing the key presses too fast and causing this to happen... worth trying I guess, I will advise.

Ok so I changed the keyboard rate in my Joystick profile in Target, which was at 32/50 min/max ( milliseconds), to 50/75.

Just spent about 20 minutes flying a dogfight mission with no issue this time. May be too soon tell, appears thought this might have fixed it for me.

Keeping fingers crossed.

Ok that was not it either, thought I would report back though that I did get it figured out.

I have my flaps up switch on the Warthog throttle, programmed to hold down shift and F keys whilst in the up position, when I move it to neutral it releases the shift and f keys.

Apparently I had left in the up position, and those keys being constantly held conflicted with both my F2 button, and my M keys...

I just have to make sure I move the flaps button back to neutral after flaps are up lol... so this one, was on me.

Edit: They do not conflict that way when viewing in event viewer, but apparently BOS does not like them being held down continuously.

I don't use the Warthog so forgive me if this sounds silly...

Can't you map it so that your flaps up switch performs a key press of those keys rather than holding those keys pressed?

Yes I can very easily do this,  but I seem to prefer it being held, and moving until I tell it to stop ( by moving lever to neutral),or it is full up or full down and stops on it's own. I just need to make sure in the latter, I move the flaps switch back to neutral position ( when they reach full stop)...

Not silly at all!

Thanks,

EDIT: On second thought, probably what I should really do, is move the flaps over to a button that returns to neutral when I release it anyway, like a hat button, and get it off the three position flap button on the Warthog, then I don't have to worry with forgetting to move it back to neutral...

Aaah.

I presume your flaps switch is a 3 way toggle?

Up, centre and down?

Yes, the flap switch on the Warthog is just that, see my edit above though, think I will move to a hat and get it off there , then don't have to worry with it.

Thanks,

Yesterday I had the feeling, that some commands where not working at some times. After a re-start everything was ok.

What I am missing at the moment is a confirmation / a notice, that something has been done with a command.

In CoD there is a notice in the lower right corner, when e. g. changing frequencies for navigation or selecting an engine.

Then you know, that you have done something.

I do not use any profiles for my Warthog, just mapped actions in the game. The flaps I use from the throttle as they are. Put for DWN as long as needed and center it and UP the same way. Works fine. I just miss the RDR rotary from the Cougar for easy thumb trim :) But the Warthog's slider works as well.

Yes mapping in the sim will work great, in fact that is how I have ROF set up for my Warthog rather than using a profile, but they don't require as many keys or key combinations. I like having a profile for BOS that allows me to put more on the buttons and control them better with what they can do in the sim. Much more time consuming however, but I like the end results.

Yeah I really miss those two rotaries the Cougar had as well, they were very handy.

I ended up just recently adding a CH Throttle Quadrant to the setup to at least give me some more sliders that I can use, along with twelve more buttons should I have the need, though I can not imagine needing any more buttons. The extra sliders I will use for prop pitch ,rads, and cowels.

I observed a loss of controlls, again. The M command for maps wasn't working after I went to the settings menue and then back to the game (It was still defined in the settings). Also the "Press P for unpausing....." was not shown anymore. Something wrong here ?

Meteor, I had a similar experience and it took me a while to recall that I'd deactivated the alert for the HUD. Press "H" again and it'll all come back. At least, that worked for me.
