TWC_Ace Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 On this day, 75 years ago 1942-43 battle in the "Volga river city" was one of the bloodiest in history with about two million dead from both sides. It was a disastrous loss for nazi Germany, and is glorified by some as the event that saved Europe from Hitler. What I didnt know is that city authorities decided Volgograd will change name 6 times in the year. One of the occasions being the celebration of the victory in the battle of Stalingrad (2.2.1943.). So every 2nd of february the city is renamed to Stalingrad. So today Volgograd is Stalingrad 1
