This means that your joystick are working - or at least the axes*, and game recognize then, but this "anything else... a no-go" is too vague... what exactly you are trying do that don't work in controls assignment? * For test buttons, POV HAT in Windows Start or Cortana box type joy.cpl hit Enter select the joystick and in Properties test pressing buttons, POV HAT and just in case, moving axes.
