Hey guys! Good afternoon !!

I have a doubt about the performance achieved on IL2 BOS.
I have a very good PC (at least I think) but I'm kind of apprehensive of his performance in BOS. My monitor is an LG 25" 2560x1080 @75Hz FreeSync. I have a MSI RX 580 armor OC 4GB and a Ryzen 5 1600x (in stock), 8GB RAM @3333MHz and for me to be able to run at 75FPS I have to put a configuration as shown below (attached).

In some cases, when airfield have many player, the FPS go to around 65 or 60 or when I dive and fly near trees.

I wonder if it's right and there's something I can / should do to improve performance of my PC.
Note: Running in background, I open Steam, AMD ReLive, MSI AfterBurner, OpenTrack, TeamSpeak, AsRock Fatal1ty F-Stream Tunning and Skype.

I think your Ryzen has a 'slow' single core speed comparatively speaking (I dont know enough abt them, if you can OC?)

a quick search shows your video card drops in performance at 2560, say versus a 1080-gtx (1920 it would still crush it)

most setups that are top notch have 16GB ram @2800+

also check to make sure those background apps aren't mucking up additionally for you. AMD Live and AsRock stream tuning. Do they really do anything or do they interfere with each other and bios etc. quit Skype

But if I were you I would start by changing your Dynamic Resolution Factor to .8 - that will boost everything in those situations , disable mirrors, never use hud, - and then maybe even try  high settings

Try overclocking your Ryzen. The GPU might be borderline at that resolution as well.

I can’t really say for sure what it is without running some tests.

Hmm, I had an RX 480 8GB + R5 1600x before getting my Rift. I was getting about 100 fps average at 1440p max detail (2x AA) in the VR test track, which is fairly intense. I think the minimums were around 70 fps but those were brief. That was before the draw distance was increased though. I've also heard the 4GB model of the RX 480 has slower VRAM in addition to having half as much. That could certainly account for the difference.

This performance does seem strangely low. The RX 580 should easily handle anything below 1440p. RAM clock is also good. I would expect ultra settings to be feasible.

I would bet that it is the CPU speed. Even with modern overclocked Intel processors, I've seen slowdowns to around 60 fps during heavy action. I doubt that all those programs running in the background affect a 6-core processor. However, it wouldn't hurt to try without them.

I just checked my old benchmarks, the R5 1600x should be doing 120-130 fps at 1440p on Ultra without a GPU bottleneck (GTX 1080 TI). Also, the 8GB model of the RX 480/580 will do 100 fps minimum at high detail with that same CPU. Either you are running into the VRAM limit of the 4GB model or there is something seriously wrong with your system.

With those conservative settings, exceeding the VRAM limit would be rather strange. Still a good idea to check it though.

If all of the things mentioned above don't reveal anything, I suggest that you run some benchmarks outside Il-2. If the performance falls short of what others with your CPU and GPU report, it may be possible to zero in on the problem.

Borked computers can be hard to diagnose sometimes. The safest thing that can be done is a complete reinstall. If you have a spare drive and a few hours, it's probably the best thing to do.
