BoS Price disparity: What am I getting (or not)?

Hello Simmers,

Newbie here. I've watched a lot of YouTube vids and I want to try this game.

When I google BoS I get several offers for downloads for the game from £12-15.

Steam want £40+. Why? Is there download better?. Are the others unpatched or unsupported? What am I getting for more money?

Are there cheaper servers? What are the downsides?

And If I get a disc copy or from another server can I register it with steam for the updates/patches etc?

If you buy from the grey market you risk losing your cash as well as possibly not supporting the devs.

If a bit cash strapped simply wait for the regular 50pc sales

Theyre common.

And if you buy them, you'll very likely get ripped off. You will either end up with a special version, sold (at one time) for the Russian market, which requires you to 'unlock' content, or more likely with a second-hand game that has already been registered to someone else, which you can't play at all.

Buy from official sources only: Steam, or this website.

Dont even buy from steam as they rip off the devs also, same price but steam keep a huge cut.

But directly from the main IL2 site and nowhere else and 100% of that price goes into game devs wallet so they can bring us new content.

All those other cheap deals not on steam are scams or old version of game.

Like OrLok said, sales are very common.  Lurk, wait, and pick up a copy from the web site.  If somebody else is offering a download then it is probably not legit.  Steam and the store are the only two places that I am aware of to legally buy the game.

I fully endorse buying directly from this site (and Steam if you have to). Everything else is sketchy and I'd avoid with a ten foot pole.

If you can't wait... well its $49.99 for the regular and $79.99 for the Premium edition (with two extra aircraft). Or wait for a sale. Usually the sales are 50% off the regular price and that knocks things down to a very reasonable level for the amount of content you're getting.
