Haza Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Gents, Without starting the whole OP regarding the Pe2 guuners, I was wondering whether anybody had actually tested the gunners and the effects of G,, + or - across both sides? Obviously pulling G you black out, however, on many occasions whilst chasing bombers and they are pulling silly G maneuvers, the gunners apparently can still hit me with ease. Therefore, does anybody know if the G limits affect the gunners? Having only experienced 5G in an F-18 as a back-seater, trying to shoot facing backwards would have been a little bit difficult if I was doing it for real, as I would have been using the sick bag!! Happy for this post to be moved if required! Regards Haza
JtD Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 While bombers do fly tight turns, they don't really pull a lot of g's, because they are too slow for doing that. The aircraft themselves are typically not designed to pull enough g to black out the crew, dive bombers excepted. Generally, changes to flight path (manoeuvring) would probably be a bigger issue than the g load as such, adjusting for a constantly changing firing solutions is hard, but adjusting for a randomly changing firing solution is impossible. In game, I haven't figured out how exactly manoeuvring or g load is effecting gunners, only that imho they are too accurate under these conditions. In particular if they are just sitting on a strap of leather with a gun in their hand instead of being fully strapped into a solid turret.
1./KG4_OldJames Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 I have tried a short spell of inverted flight in an H16, and I can confirm that the nose gunner does not fly up into the roof...sadly.
Haza Posted January 28, 2018 Author Posted January 28, 2018 Gents, Thank you for your replies. Regards
PatrickAWlson Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I'm pretty sure that G does impact gunners. I know it didin RoF and i think it does in BoS. Not sure about details, but the gunners cannot fire from any angle under any circumstances.

BMA_Hellbender Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 As in RoF, G forces impact AI gunners but not human gunners. Hopefully this will be addresses in time for Flying Circus, or the consequences will be, ahum, predictable.
blitze Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 As one who flies bombers on both sides a lot online, I can attest that wild maneuvers will not help your gunners take out an attacking fighter. I have had reasonable success with gentle slip turns from side to side whilst being attacked. Adding pitch variations but again not too wild. This has led me to having multiple fighter kills on a run whilst still being able to make it back to base although not without corresponding Swiss cheese effect on my ride.
