I should get mine today, are they just plug and play or there has to be a setup/calibration process?

Posted

there's a program you download from their site to calibrate it.

I've only ever needed to use it once.

Takes seconds.

Not plug and play but pretty straight forward. Do not use Windows to calibrate. Watch the official YouTube videos from MFG.

I see there is an option to download software for older and newer version on the MFG site.

Mine are used so dont know which version to download.

Is there a serial number up to the older version and starts for the newer software?

Yeah the two folks above are spot on- you should run the configuration program once, and in general following the videos for the assembly, configuration and calibration are a good idea. They are very helpful and while there are not many "gotchas" in the setup, the videos are still worth it (the one surprise I got was loosening a bolt a wasn't really supposed to, but it was no problem and I simply tightened it again).

Don't be intimidated by the talk of assembly, configuration and videos- it really is dead simple. Best piece of sim gear I've ever owned, and the no frills simplicity of the pedals is one part of why I hold that opinion.

Email Milan. His email should be on the MFG site. He will answer within a few days and is very helpful. He can answer that question easily.

This video may help you determine if you have V1 or V2 model since it shows the hardware differences. The text below the video mentions that the new version came out in November 2014.

I'm getting mine next month.

Got my graphite Crosswinds today, takes about two minutes to assemble them, then 30 seconds to calibrate, which you must do if you change the pedal angle. Absolutely fantastic pedals, and in a different league to the CH pedals I've been using for the last decade.

Congrats!

I have been using mine for over 2 years now and so love them, they are fantastic!

Mine are just over a year old and so far maintenance has included re-tightening a couple bolts one time, took at most 30 seconds... truly makes you wonder why other things can't be made as well as these pedals

they are lovely, I don't understand why they are not uber popular and more well known to the more casual gamer.

Much too expensive for the "casual" gamer.

Well mine are serial number 6233 so I guess they've sold a fair few....

I have all CH gear. The Fighterstick is fine (now that I tightened the crimp connectors on the pots and added a custom hand rest), the throttle is fine, and I mode the pedals to remove the center detent... I really want Crosswinds! One day...
