I have seen on a few servers that there are bonfires marking the runways. I think this is incredibly useful, and something I have been trying to place into my missions.

I am having some issues with it however. The landfires are floating 5m in the air regardless of repeated attempts to set on ground. Additionally, they do not appear to be activating either. I have a check zone command set to an activate command that's pointing to the fires. Although, thinking about it now maybe I need a timer in there. Either way I can't seem to get these things lit or settled nicely on the ground. Please, tell me what I'm missing here.

I'll try and make a group available when I get back to my home computer. I took mine from the "campaign" missions. These are a little elaborate, since they'll activate and deactivate with sunset and sunrise, and so on, but they're still cool.  They light one at a time, in a sort of ripple.

Anyway, you need the fires themselves, but you also need the "fire effect" MCU, which, of course, needs to be triggered. Just to be confusing, the object (the fire) and the effect (the fire-effect) have the same icon in the ME.  Grrr.

And as for the floating effect you are seeing, you may need to go through your group and individually set each fire and fire effect on the ground using the tool.

Oh I did not realize that they were separated!! I believe I only have the effect. Do you set them right on top of each other or have to link them in some way?

Pg. 56-57 in the editor manual shows you how to set up the bonfires.

Salutations,

OMG... checking in the editor manual actually provides needed information? Wow, what a great concept.  :o: ...  :salute:

There's also some hope among certain quarters that it may catch on and spread to other areas outside the game  :P

I know that it was probably in the manual, but sometimes it's nice to get an example, or to discuss it with you guys.

Ah... don't mind me. I can be a wise ass sometimes. A serious character flaw on my part.
