Recon Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Right in the middle of playing, the game shut my computer down. I was flying 109 and was descending for a landing. Haven't had this happen on any other game on this machine, so not sure why - reporting as a bug?
Bando Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) Maybe something overheated? I had it happen now and then on my former rig. I suspect (not sure) the CPU was FU and sometimes it restarted the whole rig in the middle of any game I played (being ROF, CLOD, DCS P51 or RO2). New rig was purchased couple months back and it did not happen ever since. Does not help much, but I suspect you need to look at your rig first, for if it was a fault in the game, this forum would flood in the messages about it. Good luck. Edited December 27, 2013 by Bando
J4SCrisZeri Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 My copy of BoS is not starting anymore on my PC... Uninstalled, reinstalled, redownloaded three times, no good. I have written to the guys, but still no answer and well, as a buyer-founder I expected a little clue or help My game is unplayable right now, crashes as soon as I launch it. Disappointed and, during this long server uptime, quite sad.

All good feedback - and I thought as much myself. I played Arma3 for hours and I play Cliffs of Dover often, nothing like this. Do you think BoS causes more usage ? I'll keep an eye out for heat issues. If it happens in another game, I'd agree, but this was so far targeted just to the early access.
Emgy Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) if you want to monitor heat, try http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html There's a column for max recorded heat during a session. Personally with BoS I have less GPU heat (~61C) than some PG games (max I've seen is 69C), while CPU heat is similar to when I play other graphically intensive games. Have you tried the suggestions in this thread: http://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/2980-cant-update-read/?do=findComment&comment=66366 Luckily you have longer than 3 days to find a solution! Good luck!
Recon Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 all good again, but I'm posting this for the developers of BoS, not enthusiastic gamers - thanks!
AOD_Allies Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 This same thing happens with my cousin's computer. About 5-10 seconds after the mission has started the whole computer shuts down and restarts. I tested it multiple times and it happens every time. Any solutions to this? His computer is very new. I know it has the following cpu and gpu: Intel i7 GTX 770 I haven't run any diagnostics to find out what is happening when it shuts down, but I wanted to say that this isn't an isolated problem.

Do you use FlightFX or SweetFX?
J4SCrisZeri Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Do you use FlightFX or SweetFX? nothing, the game is absolutely vanilla and used to run PERFECT on that machine, so no, no memory issues, no conflicts, nothing changed about hardware. BoS just stopped launching and working on this pc a few days ago. I must fix this, otherwise what did I preorder and support it for?

BoS just stopped launching and working on this pc a few days ago. I must fix this, otherwise what did I preorder and support it for? I took a small test and copied the game folder to Program Files (x86) on system drive. I have it on separate drive than Windows normally. As soon as I launched Il2.exe I got message that "Il2.exe has stopped working". Then I ran the il2.exe with admin rights (right click -> run as admin). All good, game started. Same thing with launcher, without admin rights the il2.exe crashes. Launcher starts allright, checks updates, but after clicking play game starts and il2.exe stops working. This could be it?
J4SCrisZeri Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I will for sure follow both your suggestions, very precious and appreciated help, thank you Sirs.
dburne Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I myself never install any games, into my program files folder for that reason.
J4SCrisZeri Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 (edited) I usually do, following the default guidelines like a sheep and I never had a problem with any game or professional application. This may be my first case and a lesson for the future. I hope so, can't wait to get beck home, fix things, fly like there was no tomorrow. Edited December 29, 2013 by J4Scriszeri

Sorry, read through that thread and there were some suggestions for BoS crashing on launch but yes, mostly about updating correctly. Hopefully the ideas above get it sorted for you!
J4SCrisZeri Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Hello I just wanted to say a big thank you. I launched the game as administrator and, after the last update (new guns I guess) the game started flawlessly going to the main screen. I will use this method from now on, problem solved I guess... I didnt understand what and WHY it happened, but who cares! I will enjoy BoS from now to january 5th!
dburne Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Glad to see it is working for you J4, have fun!!
J4SCrisZeri Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I did! 2 hours of joy and fun. The new weapons are a blast, and their effects, no matter if alpha or not, are nicely done. The only thing that still gives me problems is the handling, not sure if Im noob or just completely idiot, but in my hands the plane shakes and bobs like crazy: both bombings and dogfights result in an absolutaly chaotic rodeo, and when I come out alive that's just a miracle, not control or strategy. I compare the situation to CLoD, a sim Im used to, where any plane feels like a stable, accurate death machine in my hands. In BoS I often have the feeling my plane is drifting in the air, literally...
