Escape key no longer functioning.  were is the location for reset.

Disregard it came back and  functioning  once again

When your ESC key doesn´t function you have some command active, usually flaps control. When it happens go by winkey or alt+tab to desctop, start notepad and check what letter/number/symbol it writes, that should give you a clue to which comm is active.
