What aircraft, load, time to get there if you recall ?...

How controllable was it at that altitude ?

How were the meteo conditions ?  Winter / Autumn / Summer ?  Temperature ?

What IAS did you reach at that altitude ?

I am pretty sure that the mig is the plane that can get up the highest. never tried it myself though

We once chased a 109 (no idea what kind) up to 9km up in our Yak-1bs... at that point the plane was barely controllable. The 109 was still higher than us, but clearly struggling as well. Going back down to reasonable altitudes was actually quite fun. :)

My highest kill was at 7km in my Yak. That was fun and hard to control because I had forgotten to change gears. The highest I've gone was around 9km in a Spitfire (I zoned out while climbing behind friendly lines) and the best pictures I have from a high altitude flight was when I hauled my Mig to around 8km up.

highest Dogfight was at 10.000m with MiG3 vs Bf 109 F4. I couldn't outperform with my engine powers the F4 at that alt.

Got to over 12k in a Merlin 46 spit starting with 100% fuel on the *Autumn Moscow map. It was controllable but IAS was around 145mph max and AOA was huge. I Attacked a 109 from nearly 11k in a MiG 3 once but because I am an awful shot I missed and began a long dogfight down to 6k, where I eventually got him, more through luck than judgement.

Edit actually must've been winter as I cannot quite get to 12000m on kuban Autumn when reattempting. I can hold it at 11500 and have to zoom up to 11950m

Went up in a Bf109 F-4 last week to 10,400m. Still had good control, think the map was autumn in Kuban.

I zoomed up to 7000m before the 109 E couldn't climb anymore.

Then I bailed to see how long it'd take for the pilot to reach the ground. It took at least an hour iirc. :P
