Low FPS with an Acer Nitro 5 laptop.

Hello everyone !

I've a problem with my new laptop.

I have difficulties in configuring the game.

Here is my configuration:

Acer Nitro 5

Windows 10 64 bit

i7-7700HQ Quad-core 2.80 GHz (3.80 boost)

8 GB DDR4 memory

Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 4 GB

I'm currently playing with around 20 FPS.

I've tried multiple configuration without significant results.

Is my laptop too weak for IL2 ?

I play other games like Atilla Total War and I've noticed that my graphic card is noted 3 GB instead of 4 in the game's configuration pannel.

Perhaps the problem comes form it ?

Thanks in advance for your help !

There are two possible problems. The first is that laptop has an extremely low end graphics card in it. IL2 is pretty easy on graphics cards, so it might be enough but that is really pushing the limits of what might actually work. The issue isn't the 4GB of VRAM, it's the computing performance of it. A GTX 970 4GB from 4 years ago is around twice as fast I think.

The second possible problem is you may not even be using the GTX 1050. Intel CPU's have an integrated graphics card which is barely capable of running windows. This is the active graphics card by default in laptops. Right click any blank space on desktop and open "NVIDIA Control Panel." Under "Manage 3D Settings," make sure to select your GTX 1050 instead of HDxxxx for the "Preferred graphics processor." This option should be at the top in the Global Settings tab. While in that tab, also select maximum performance in the power management and texture filtering quality settings.

Thank you so much that was the second problem.

I'm running a totally different game now it's simply perfect !

Thanks again for your help !

No problem, enjoy! :good:

I am curious as to how well it runs with that setup, would you mind checking the performance benchmarking thread in the VR subsection? We use two tests, one at 1080p and a second run in VR. Obviously you aren't running VR but I'd like to have an idea how well BoS runs with low end graphics cards. Instructions are in the thread.
