Anyone that can give me a hint of what is wrong will be appreciated.

My fps are in the 20s now (used to be steady 40s with my i7 4770 in VR)

Overall the PC is slow

16GB of DDR 4

32GB Optane memory

i7 8700 @ 4.7 MHz

Gigabyte Z370 Gaming  mbo

Make sure you‘re using a discrete GPU and not the iGPU in the processor.

I wouldn't expect that result but more info is needed. First question is what graphics card do you have? Second is do you have the 8700 or the 8700k? The 8700 has a single core turbo of 4.6GHz and runs at 4.3GHz in the best case scenario if more than 1 core is used (which is always, windows itself will use 12 cpu threads by default with it).

Edit: check CPU/GPU usage in task manager while running the game. Post result here so we can take a look, should help figure out where the problem is.

GTX 1080

Win 10 64 Bit

Used the performance test track, snow map La 5 attacking He 110s.

CPU % usage in the 60s

GPU % in the 30s (seems extremely low)

FPS in the 20s  :(

Its a new Mbo, new processor, new memory, optane memory, I am using the same hard drives.

I am also using my same install of Win 10, not a fresh install.

So Might be I need to do a fresh install of Win 10?

You should always reinstall your OS with a new motherboard. I'd start there.

Agreed, definitely do a fresh install of Windows. It's a pain but well worth it.

Your rig should be performing way better than what you are seeing.

When you get around to installing your Nvidia drivers after installing windows, get the latest drivers and install only the driver itself, not GeForce experience or any of that other stuff.

I always only install the driver and PhysX.

This.

I've helped out a buddy who had similar issues with performance. He had, you wouldn't believe it, his hdmi cable plugged into the motherboard's hdmi slot. For approximately 6 months, and he had a brand new very powerful PC at the time.

Before you go thru the ordeal of reinstalling windows I suggest completely deleting the current nvidia drivers then run a driver cleaning app (guru 3D has a good one) and then reinstall the most recent nvidia driver. I've see a lot of folks here have the same issue you have and after doing this all was good. Worth a try.

Thing is, he just installed a new motherboard. An OS reinstall is always recommended for a new MB. So it's worth the effort.
