Yardstick Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 I have a Cougar with U2 NXT gimbals and am considering getting a second stick for WW2 flying. My question is where is the stick profile saved when it is uploaded, the stick or the base? I would assume that it is on the stick otherwise this would confuse things were the stick to be swapped for another non-TM unit.
Sokol1 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 (edited) Depend on what joystick. Warthog, CH, Saiteks joystick game profiles (press joystick button to press keyboard keys...) is stored in a software running in games background. VKB sticks buttons profiles - not game assignments - is stored in their controller (Black BoX) memory. VPC(VirPil) don't use software at all, but can use (like any joystick) 3rd part keymapper's, eg. Joystick Gremlin, Joy2key, Xpadder, SVMapper, all running in games background. If you want a improvement over Cougar UberNXT for WW2 "dogfights" the natural is VKB, VirPil or Baur bases, due the use of all metal, bearings CAM gimbal. CH's, Saitek's, Warthog... will be a downgrade relative to Cougar UberNXT for WW2 "dogfights". Edited January 18, 2018 by Sokol1
Yardstick Posted January 18, 2018 Author Posted January 18, 2018 Thanks for the reply. I am very happy with the Cougar base and U2 NXT mechanics - with a 75mm extension it is very smooth and accurate. I'm considering a new grip as much for the aesthetics as anything else and wondered how the Cougar base would recognise that - sorry should have been clearer.
Sokol1 Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 (edited) VirPil T-50 grip work "BnP" in Warthog base and should work in the same way in Cougar base - one button became non operational, since Warthog has one button more than Cougar and T-50 match Warthog buttons number. SInce this don't change nothing for games, you don't need reassign buttons, but maybe some button require a different assignment due the layout. Example, button #7 will not work - don't exist in Cougar, but their placement in T-50 is good option for fire cannon only. VKB MCG-TM is too compatible with Warthog base and probable with Cougar base - but not released yet (promised for February, 2018). Baur, Cheeb2006 KG-13B grips (4 buttons) work "BnP" on same bases. Custom grips made in very low quantity, most by order an expensive. "BnP" means attach the nut on grip base bolt and go play. Edited January 18, 2018 by Sokol1
