Leaf Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Since its release I have only flown the Bf 109 G2, so it would be the Gustav for me. But with Bodenplatte coming up I'd say either the K4 or 262, we'll see.
Ehret Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Hey Swing, all the P40 needs is a decent engine and some revisions to its cooling. Oh well, I suppose that ended up being the P51. P40 had a decent engine and aerodynamics from the start; initially competing well with a 109E. For some reason Hawks were used later on, thus opinions of being obsolete.
Oubaas Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Lagg-3 for me. It's well rounded, and it flies well. IL-2 1942 as my second choice. Yak-1b as my third choice. Pe-2 as my fourth. I need to get to know this aircraft better. I have flown it a few times, and it's nice, but I haven't done much in the way of combat with it yet. P-40E as fifth choice. I like it a lot. MiG-3 as sixth choice. It's beautiful and flies nice. Spitfire as my seventh choice. Flying art. Beauty in motion. And it flies nice. I-16 as my eighth choice. I have a fondness for the little cigar butt. LA-5 as ninth choice. MC.202s8 as tenth choice. It's a great airplane and I love it. I just don't fly that side much. I do like to take it up for some flathatting now and, though.
Archie Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Almost impossible to choose just one. Out of the current planeset probably the JU88 for a bomber (and I just like flying it around) and the P-40 or LaGG 3 as a fighter. I do like the F4 though. Nope, couldn't pick just one.

But if there is only going to be one plane it would be pointless to take a fighter with no other fighters to fight. So probably I would take Il-2 mod 41. No need for a rear gunner. All metal construction. 23mm cannons as well as rockets and bombs will handle any of the available ground targets.

Typhoon comes to mind, beaufighter too. This. Two of my favourite aircraft in the world(with the Hurricane and the Sunderland). I have weird tastes, I know. And a few beds. It is almost not a plane, but a boat in the sky. Oh wait.

Wolfram-Harms Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Haven't tried most planes yet; I seem to be the "Messerschmitt-Man", and from those, I would select the G-4 so far. With the exception of the cockpit vision (the bold greenhouse bars can hide a whole flight of fighters!) she is a wonderful aircraft to fly IMHO. Even without any fighting I enjoy taking her out to a dance! But let's wait how the G-6 will be...

JaffaCake Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 Pe2 hands down. Capable to turn for a bit with 109 with a bit of E - just enough to put a few of those deadly USB rounds and take the wing off. Superb gunners with incredible view - control them yourself easily, or let the AI take the lucky shot at the LW pilot. And speed and payload too! Gets to target fast and carries a fair punch. And then its uncanny ability to survive a beating... the thing is a monster.
56RAF_Roblex Posted March 5, 2018 Posted March 5, 2018 If I just wanted to rack up kills or at least survive more dogfights then the Yak-1b but I would still be tempted by the Mig-3. Who knows? Maybe if I was forced to fly nothing but the Mig then I might become better in it than I am in the Yak? On the other hand, I do like blowing things up so I might miss my ground attack and wish I had chosen the IL2 or learned to fly the P40 better. In the future the Tempest might be a good choice for a fighter with GA capability. I have also not seen how fun the A20 is yet.

Remove 2 guns, add extra ammo and I can now fight it out with AI fighters in a one on one (I do bravely run away if Im outnumbered) and for bomber intercepts and ground attacks its a monster. Hated it at first, now Im slowly falling a little bit in love...

Lagg-3 His comfortable interior, stable behaviour when flying, powerful and precise vYa-23 canon, holds in diving, and excellently slows down, even If I wonna stay behind the enemy, or when needed to land. And I like its design. The second I was thinking about was Mig-3. But Lagg more fits to my personality.
