How emulate mouse with a hat switch

Recommended Posts

Hello guy's,

I'm using the snap wiew from il2 with my hat switch, but it's really not precise at all ... each time I press the hat switch in a direction the camera (pilot head) is turning a big angle ....

For exemple if i'm looking straight foward i have to press only three time my hat switch right to look at my tail ...

I often loose enemies for this reason ....

So i was wondering if it's possible to make the hat switch working as a mouse, or (because it isn't analogical) do a king of mouse emulation with the hat switch ?

I found on several forums two answers to my problem,

FB view plus and newview,

but i can't find a place to download them ...

If someone now where to download those software ,

or have an other idea,

it could be great

thank's

PS: Sorry for my english ...

It depends on the joystick. Some have 4 position hats (N.S.E.W.) othere have 8 positions, some probably have more.

The best solution would be Track IR or a free alternative such as FreeTrack, either of these will be a revelation to you after relying on a hat switch.

Mine is 8,

I know Track Ir but it's quite expensive no ?

I'll check freeTrack and let you know

I'm not sure this is what you mean but pressing "F9", (I think), changes snap views to pan camera mode, this should move your view around like what moving the mouse looks like.

Hello,

I was in pan view and i do prefer the snap view

I think Freetrack will be good !

Good flight,

Mick :P (number two  )

Whatever you decide to invest in head tracking, will be well worth the effort. There's life before head tracking, and life after head tracking.

Good luck. :salute:

hat switch are just horrible

Some have 4 position hats (N.S.E.W.) othere have 8 positions.

Nitpicking: Technically all HAT in joystick are an micro-switch with 4 buttons in N, S, E, W positions.

POV HAT is a HAT with 4 buttons, but joystick firmware is able to detect 2 near buttons pressed simultaneous as diagonals, resulting in N, NE, E, NS, S, WS, W, WN. Why HAT diagonals never are very practical to use.

FB view plus and newview,[/quote

FB View PLus and NewView * are old softwares of iL-2:46 "hay days" ~2004/5 to improve their archaic camera views (inherited by CloD), hence 32 bits software, probable don't work with BoS (don't work with CloD Blitz) - unless you are searching solution for IL-2 46.

Anyway try this links: https://il2.jimdo.com/il-2-tools

http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showpost.php?p=407278&postcount=10

Mouse movement can be emulated with Joy2Key, Xpadder (~$10 each), but the result is very similar to in game PAN movements. I already try and conclude that don't worth tun a 3rd part software to do the same (I am TrackIR "allergic").

* As NewView author lost interest in IL-2:46 "half-brother/cousin's", is not longer developed/supported.

The link worked but i don't know how to setup it ... Or even install it correctly ... All is in russian ...

Don't panic. Like mostly goods related to "flight simulation" in last two decades (flight games, joysticks), NewView is from Russian origens.  :)

Click in the Russian flag at right/top and change for English flag.

Or in NewView folder (can extract for any place) open conf.ini and change the first line for English.ini

[LangIni]
FileName=English.ini

Besides this "mouse emulation"  or create instant views for specific angles- called UViews -  NewView is a powerful keymapper, but in IL2:46  "heydays" are mostly looked with "bias" by western players, due by a "Russian thing" - so documentation available only in Russian.

NewView are useul for CloD archaic camera view (most IL-2:46 inherited), but don't work anymore with 64 bits "redux" BLITZ.

Haha sorry it's not the software that is in russian ... But the documentation

So i don't know how to implement NewView ...

Open Config.exe

Click ADD DLL TO REGISTER, see in the window bellow if went OK.

In Joystick tab test your  POV HAT.

In Buttons tab > Assignments >  Centering > define a button/key for "Center View Slow (press once)".

In game PAN camera pressing POV HAT and when want re-center POV use the above button/key.

In Additional Settings > Speed Parameters > you can adjust PAN speed, acceleration, etc.

I don't know wat's it is suppose to do but there are no changes ...

i'll try to find a video or Something like that

In Il-2:46 you have two modes, selectable fy F9 for use POV HAT:

PAN (incremental view without return to center).

SNAP (momentary view with return to center).

I don't remember more what is default, probable SNAP.

But for use a different system - e.g.  NewView mouse emulation, you need clear the POV HAT assignments for default, or both will work simultaneous with no desired results.

First make a backup of "JohonDoe.ini" or your "username.ini".

Se in this video the SNAP and PAN section of controls cleared.

In use:
