Picchio Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 Beautiful work, especially for the weathering. Outstanding!
Tom_Weiss Posted January 15, 2018 Author Posted January 15, 2018 Thank you guys !!! I'll be releasing another two USAAF skins this week : Renee and Texas Longhorn
Madcop Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 Nice "What if ?" P-40s. Very odd British colors indeed... but again I guess I couldn't do any better. My eyes maybe ... Madcop
Tom_Weiss Posted January 15, 2018 Author Posted January 15, 2018 (edited) the colors are as accurate as I can make them under the game engine we have now without making the skin look ugly, and I am using the Il-2 color palette. and because they are being weathered by the template the colors change a lot during the process - they cannot retain the original color. but if we get an alpha channel for the normal template and and alpha channel for the specular template, then I can saturate the colors while retaining a glossy surface. this is a skin I'll release soon, which has to be a matt surface so that the brown color has a pleasant feel, which it would not had I made it glossy. Madcop Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 Hello Tom. I am not a Skinner and so I am not aware of all the trouble you may encounter while trying to skin. I just noticed the colors that for me were looking wrong, compared with other skins. Now I understand that my comments may look weird when opposed to the work involved in such a project. Please accept my apologies and I wish you a lot of success with your work. Madcop
Tom_Weiss Posted January 15, 2018 Author Posted January 15, 2018 (edited) don't worry colors are always a bit hard to hit right - I use many times the work done by model makers as source for my skins and it is always interesting to see how many many ways there are to try to get just the right colors for each skin, of course, I have Photoshop that makes things so much easier while they have to mix real paint to achieve their results :D Edited January 15, 2018 by Tom_Weiss
Tom_Weiss Posted January 15, 2018 Author Posted January 15, 2018 I tweaked the specular files of the first 4 skins

Tom_Weiss Posted January 16, 2018 Author Posted January 16, 2018 true - and we can fix them to make them better and share our work as well. 1

KpgQuop Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 The new worn skins are spot-on. I hope you'll consider revisiting other aircraft covered by your skin collection, when you have the time. Thanks for sharing.
