unreasonable Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 I understand why the devs went they way they did, because it will bring in good money for them. However, there is a precedent that was set of going early to a late war scenario, and that is it will now be nigh on to impossible to get the late war guys to buy into any earlier scenario. Why would you want to fly an F.E. 2b, when you can fly a Spad XIII? How quickly people have forgotten that little lesson. Sure we would, but just wait. After Bodenplatte, if an earlier scenario is released, say, Hawk 81s vs. Ki-43s, do you really think that the P51 vs. 109K crowd are going to want to play it? The P51 vs 109K crowd are MP. I expect that the SP crowd are more likely to go in for an earlier scenario, since they are not so interested in the competition (although everyone likes to fly well) and more into the historical imagination. Not all of them of course: but then not all the SP crowd like the late war scenarios either. So it depends on the mix of your buyers - not the same as the mix of the noise on the forum.

Why would you want to fly an F.E. 2b, when you can fly a Spad XIII? I am another that would have no problems at all switching from late war to 'pre-war' be it China or Spain or whatever. I do have several squadmates that will never buy BoM though so I can see the problem. Personally I bought BoM before I bought BoS because I *wanted* to fly I-16s & Migs despite being used to flying spitfires. I look forward to the servers going 'Early War Only'.
Rolling_Thunder Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 I don't think the excitement over BoBp is solely down to the late war aircraft. A lot of it has to do with the introduction, into the franchise, of the RAF and the USAAF. The Eastern front is the least of my prefered theatres. I am very happy that the RAF is finally being introduced. Would much prefer a typhoon to a tempest but you get what you're given. I think the naysayers will be surprised when they find the majority of the player base share their passion for all timeframes. 1
unreasonable Posted January 16, 2018 Posted January 16, 2018 Absolutely: British types also allows any Canadians, Auzzies etc to fly for their own squadrons. I am perfectly happy messing about on the east front and imagining what it must have been like for the pilots there, but flying for your own lot has it's own special appeal. Ditto on the Typhoon. The game needs ground attack, and the Typhoon was the bee's knees. If BoBp is a success and the franchise keeps staggering forwards, I hope we can get the Tiffy as a premium. I am sure it would be popular: everyone likes rockets, even if they are useless.
Hauksbee Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 (edited) Does anyone know the name of this film, and when it was made? Edited January 21, 2018 by Hauksbee
