Battle of.....One Belt One Road ?

That could be popular.

I did very much like the guy yelling at  the dreadnoughts......

Not a good choice in terms of sales, but honestly I’d find it extremely interesting. Such a wide variety of awesome crap planes. Just think of flying a sim, where the Polikarpov I-16 is the high-powered BnZ fighter that should stay out of a turn fight.

Jumped the gun on April Fools by a fair margin there!

Chinese tv drama ... 70 years ago people could make a better combat scenes than that:

Acting was also more believable.

Khalkin Gol would be more suitable than air war over China, though latter one would see a great variety of foreign aircraft.

Of course, I showed you CGI, without Hollywood drama, the real thing always beat CGI

yeah, like Jason and crew would just love to hand back all the pre order monies

Posted

Sure, they do not have to do that, just give a P 51 as a extraplane for those whom preordered

And what about Luftwaffe crowd ? Give them one more reason to complain ?

Come on you know they'll complain with or without a reason lol

Hell yeah! Loved the Khalkin Gol battles in Il-2 46. Unlike in that film, some of the planes had such crappy armament you could empty the lot into an opponent and still he wouldn't go down.

Hopefully with Flying Circus such a thing will be possible!

Imagine a "survival mode" mission where you fly a 190 with unlimited ammo against an infinite horde of WWI kites...

Personally I feel 1946 never really got the Japanese zippo effect . But I think this film showed a tad too much effectiveness on the piece shooters of the time

Great film, could have done with subtitles for us English speakers, loved it though all the same. :salute:

We have done all that and more in Il-2 1946, to see that prior to WWII stuff with the fidelity of the this modern game would be amazing, China, Spain, Indochina and everything leading up to the main conflict, unfortunately all the developers seem to embrace is what we have.

Anyway, we live in hope.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete.

Pardon me, but whats Japanese zippo?

You don't need ammo at all, just fly thru them.

Cigarette lighter I'm guessing? Like easy to light on fire?

I was refering to the effects on CGI movies vs simulator, the zippoeffect the burning planes. Only modded IL 2 had similar

Pardon me, but whats Japanese zippo?

From Wikipedia: 'The G4M was designed for a long range and high speed at the time of its introduction. Consequently, several weight-saving measures were incorporated into the design, such as dispensing with self-sealing fuel tanks and armor, which caused Allied fighter pilots to give it derisive nicknames such as "the one-shot lighter", "the flying Zippo" and "the flying cigar" because of their tendency to explode or catch on fire from any slight damage to the wing fuel tanks after being hit by aerial machine gun fire or ground-based anti-aircraft fire.'

I'd only heard of 'one-shot-lighter' before but there you are.

I can understand this was moved, but to developers assistance ?

I am well aware of the Bodenplatte preorder, I bought it. It was really a joke, but I personally would ditch Bodenplatte and pay double in order to get those plane and that map

Well that's surprising and difficult to justify.

It’s where you put things to ensure they are never seen by the developers.

I prefer Bodenplatte, but I would still buy a Sino-Japanese War centric game.

Ah, ok, but I thought were were talking about Sino-Japanese war so neither side had any protective measures. Maybe I just got confused by that.

Although not every Betty burned.

But most wouldn't. I'm not a biggest fan of it as well, but its business and there is plenty of money they can make out of it. If anything ... we've stayed too long in the eastern front.

Posted

Well I relate to eastern front, Norway was invaded and used as a base for sending troops to Finland and Northern front. Much of the coordination and comunication happened here and Aces flew from Norway. So to me, we are not half way there conserning Eastern front, still much to be done North and in Finland. But I can see your point.

To me late war western front , have little to offer when it comes to aviation and the obstacles this simulator have .

Meh. I'd prefer the opportunity instead to bomb Guernica.

I loved that.   It was great to see those aircraft. Was the Betty really so spacious inside?

I know we don't have the aircraft details to do it but personally I would rather fly this than Bodenplatte.

After that would you like to go on to Warsaw and Rotterdam?

Cat is right, it was G3M codenamed by allies Nell. Betty however was even more spacious and comfortable:

It may be heresy here, but I'm actually kind of relieved that the Devs elected to put Pacific on hold for now.

I could be wrong but my perception is that the two strongest elements of the current player base are actual Russians and hard-core Luftwaffe fans. Going away from both Soviet and German content at the same time would have been a big risk IMO. Hopefully the iconic US and UK aircraft in the Bodenplatte set will be a gateway drug for getting more Western Hemisphere/UK players hooked on BOX, while at the same time keeping the Luftwaffe fans engaged.

Maybe then we'd have critical mass to go to a Pacific scenario, which I predict will leave a lot of the current players (if not the most vocal part) behind, no matter what.

TL;DR: muh P-38

I appreciate your observations and respect your point of view but one has to also consider that for past 13 - 14 years there was no flight sim that focused on Pacific. On the contrary we had sims including Luftwaffe every time (except for Lock On / Flaming Cliffs / DCS), so its hard not rely on Luftwaffe playerbase that was fueled for this time whereas Pacific fans had to wait indefinitely. But this Luftwaffe playerbase is also ... conservative and unwilling to switch sides or try different things for a large part. On the other hand I dont recall Russian pilots having trouble flying Spitfires and Zeros. Speaking of 777 it's only natural that Russian company tried to take advantage of their own community and made three expansions focusing on eastern front. Bodenplatte however feels rushed and almost like a placeholder that was created due to reasons lead producer gave in his message about Pacific. But following your logic we cant have expansion that does not involve Luftwaffe. We always must consider the vocal group that is unwilling to look from anywhere outside of 109 cockpit. This is actually quite sad because aviation has much longer and wider history and does not revolve around Luftwaffe only. Some would be happy with Korean conflict, others with New Guinea or Leyte and some could be pleased with Sino-Japanese war. Yet those options are out of question with this arguments you have presented Rekt.

Japanese aircraft of the period lacked armor and self-sealing gas tanks. Consequently, they tended to burst into flame easily.

Ah, I guess I misread your post. Thanks for clearing it.

Personally I also want to fly Boomerang.

I'm aware of that though that is a simplifications. But I'm not exactly sure whats exactly the problem with 1946. And as mentioned above Luse idea spins around Sino-Japanese war so nobody had any protective measures at that period.

The plane in the film was the G3M Nell rather than the G4M Betty, but it does seem rather overcrewed for something with hardly any defensive armament.

Loved those pop-up turrets!

Yeah! Me too.

I understand why the devs went they way they did, because it will bring in good money for them.

However, there is a precedent that was set of going early to a late war scenario, and that is it will now be nigh on to impossible to get the late war guys to buy into any earlier scenario.

Why would you want to fly an F.E. 2b, when you can fly a Spad XIII?

How quickly people have forgotten that little lesson.

Sure we would, but just wait.  After Bodenplatte, if an earlier scenario is released, say, Hawk 81s vs. Ki-43s, do you really think that the P51 vs. 109K crowd are going to want to play it?
