dburne Posted January 12, 2018 Posted January 12, 2018 (edited) So I know this changed an update or two back, but I have wondered since why it was changed? All other games I have in VR only display one eye image on the monitor, as BOS used to. I do not know if it would have had an impact on performance or not, if it did I imagine it would have been very little as I don't recall noticing any . Just have been curious why this was changed, anyone got any thoughts? Edited January 12, 2018 by dburne
=IL2AU=chappyj Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 Yeah not sure but I would prefer single render simply so I can see the menu when out of headset
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 I would also prefer single render. That way it would also be possible again to capture live-gameplay. Or does anyone know how to video capture live-gameplay of only one lense? Is there a way?
[CPT]CptJackSparrow Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 No but I would love to know also.
SCG_Fenris_Wolf Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 By coincidence, I found a possible way it may be feasible. It is described in the second half of this guy's YouTube video: The software he is using allows to select the source to be captured, and he directly selected the VR source, then drags the captured space upon one window, cutting off top and bottom. Maybe in the same way, capturing a single window of the double-render is possible as well? The downside of this incomplete workaround can be that VR footage captured this way will appear to be constantly zoomed in from the game's perspective. P.S. I only wanted to paste the link, but it put a YT window in there as well.
SierraKiloGulf Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 It would be nice to have only one eye especially for menus so I don't need the headset on to try to change settings. If you are trying to record just one eye, OBS has a plugin for SteamVR that lets you select left or right eye directly from the Vive/Rift feed. Its not perfect, if you lose tracking or miss frames ect, you get the blue flashing now shown on your Stream/ Recording

So selecting right eye in OBS still gives you the left eye. This can clearly be seen by turning on VR mirror in steam VR and switch eyes back and forth and you see it wont change. This is wrecking my recordings because gunsight view is always off if you are dominant eye right.
=IRFC=NakedSquirrel Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 (edited) My OBS recordings had low stuttering frame rates in my videos, even if it was smooth in game. I had a little more luck using VRcapture which is available on Steam for free. Edited December 27, 2020 by NakedSquirrel
