SCG_motoadve Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 CV1 version and pretty new. Got a black display, could hear but not see anything. Unplugged it plugged it back and same, re started Oculus and and same. A PC re started fixed it. Any ideas if this is hardware or software issue? Anyone have had this happened?
HunDread Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Some info here: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/31971-blacking-out-fault-oculus-rift/ Having the same issue I did a good amount of reading on this. There is no way to tell what will happen. You can be lucky and was just a one timer but my rift is now on its way to oculus for a replacement as it completely died eventually.
dburne Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 Are you running the beta of Rift Core 2.0 or the release legacy version of the software? I am running Rift Core and had that happen one time to me a couple of days ago. It was right after I had used the new feature of changing installation directories for Oculus Games. I had installed a game to test it out. Next time I put on the headset I got nothing in the headset. After trying couple of things I did a PC reboot and all was well again. Mine may have been related to the beta software, who knows. It has been fine since.
Tuesday Posted January 11, 2018 Posted January 11, 2018 (edited) I had this issue last week; my video card software (AMD Radeon Settings) had crashed and restarted itself before I got back to the PC, so I didn't know it crashed at the time. Simply selecting Restart in Start Menu or on the case did not solve it, had to completely shut down and reboot for it to figure its life out. Make sure you aren't overclocking too high for your card, or, try updating/re-installing your drivers. I re-installed mine and have not had an issue since. Edited January 11, 2018 by 19//Tuesday
