Can't connect either (Europe). Shows the problem with this type of protection and single point of failure...

Yeah, this is the second time this week when I can't play because the master server is offline.

Noticed that kills weren't being registered and our server was reporting keepalive errors. This got me thinking: could it be that the dserver syncs kills with the master server, and if so, why in the name of all that is holy is it so?
