dede_x Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Hello, i want to use my Thrustmaster t500 wheel pedals for yaw axis. I installed vjoy and the ucr (universal control remapper) tool. I`ve mapped the axis to the virtual joystick. In the control panel everything is working. But when i start il2 bos and try yaw axis to map to the vjoy, it shows only the axis of the t5oo wheel. Any suggestions ? Thanks in advance.
kileab Posted January 15, 2018 Posted January 15, 2018 Joystick Gremlin has a temporary "Input Repeater" for this case. You should try this software (very nice and complete).First item in their FAQ (https://whitemagic.github.io/JoystickGremlin/faq/) The game does not see Joystick Gremlin inputs, only the original joystick ones. This wil happen quite often as Joystick Gremlin cannot hide the physical devices inputs. To circumvent this issue the Input Repeater tool was implemented. You can activate it via Tools > Input Repeater. Once activated go into the game's input remaping screen, use the input you want to map by either pressing or moving it. Then, activate the remapping dialog of the game and it should recognize the virtual joystick's input. The input repeater will repeat your input for a duration of five seconds. If you don"t want to use this software, try to modify the mapping directly in the config file : ~\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\input\current.map
KG200_Volker Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 Or you can use a simple trick because repeater doesn’t work so good sometimes. Fire up your JC and IL2, center your joystick axis , set a very big dead zone in JC for the axis you want to set up (about 70% on each side), go to IL2 and move your axis NOT all the way, but about half in each direction from the center. IL2 will “feel” both actual and virtual axis but since the virtual one completes its travel sooner it registers first. Remove the dead zones and you are good to go. It’s way less problematic than the repeater for me
Rubinski Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 Hello, Just succeeded in using my heusinkveld pro pedals as rudder by using vjoy and joystick gremlin with IL2 BOS. Had some issue's and i am posting my findings. After the installion and configuration of vjoy and joystick gremlin (in jc I merged the throttle and clutch pedals axisses to 1 axis) i noticed that the "input repeater" of joystick gremlin does not work in IL2 BOS. It works in DCS and in StarCitizen. To configure the virtual axis I edited the "...\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\input\current.actions" file and added the next line by first assigning rpc-yaw in game to a random axis so the entry was made in the file and thereafter edited the current.actions file and changed it to the right joystick (joy3 is my vjoy) and the right axis (x). rpc_yaw, joy3_axis_x, Beware however to deactivate Steam Cloud because every time you start the game the file current.actions gets overwritten. Do not change anything of the current.map file manually (as stated in a previous post on this thread). I think IL2 validates the information in current.actions and, if all is ok, saves it to the current.map file.

That is curious as I just set up my pedals a few days ago and used the repeater function to get it to work. I ticked Input Repeater, went into IL2 to bind the axis, pressed one of the pedals and it came up with my race pedals, then pressed retry without pressing a pedal and the vjoy device showed up so I accepted that. Turned off Input Repeater and all worked! Edit: Just tried this again and it didn't work, maybe I just got lucky somehow! Edited December 27, 2019 by PO_Baldrick

Exodard Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 I found the solution! For me Input repeater was not working because it would only send one pedal, so only the upper part of the axis, while IL2 is waiting for "turn right" then "turn left". So I set Input repeater, pressed the right pedal fully, push the "retry" (bind button) in IL2 waited a bit that InputRepeater sends its part and then slightly pressed the left pedal, so that Input Repeater simulates the left part of the merged axis. And it worked.
-332FG-brooklynspo Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Thanks, deadzone trick worked nicely. Once you get IL-2 to recognize the vjoy device you can go back an change the curve to whatever you want.
