54th_Glitter_ Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 I have spent last weeks hesitating to purchase CLOD Blitz... ...I finally did it this week and i could not be happier!! Amazing product and excellent price!!. I would like to share my impressions, just in case someone is, or will be, in the same situation. I have been an IL2:1946 and original game player for years, for different reasons i was out of world of simulation until the appearance of the new IL2:BoX serie, which i enjoy now as much as posible as a vivid client and user. For years, in between, i have been hearing about the big project CLOD was in the begginings, and the problems and situations that prevented to become the ultimate simulator that suposedly was destined to be. During this years i have been aware of a group of people working to keep the sim alive and make it better. But the numerous patches thing, difficult of installation and so on have keep me away to try the sim. Even in recents times, with BoX under my belt, i have not lost track of what was happening with CLOD. So, i received with great pleasure the news about 1C-777 and TeamFusion to formalize collaboration on TF-CLOD as an official product. I then awaited some time until the desired 4.5 version (CLOD Blitz) was released, avoiding finally all patches thing. I just wanted an easy product to install, like the BoX serie...and finally it was here. But one last detail keep getting me away from purchase Blitz....it was Steam. I wanted a no patches and no third parties game, i wanted CLOD but with the ease of installation and play of IL2:BoX, without steam, and i was determined to wait. But the game by steam as only option looked to be a long term thing. Thanks god i changed my mind last week and decided to purchase the game!: -With steam i have had no problems, of course i absolutelly prefer the IL2:BoX way, but steam was not as bad as i thought. So this issue, altought not in my desired way, is solved. By now i'm happy. -The game: is an absolute gem!!! It lacks on quality of menu and ease to use the inteface, but the sim itself is a blast! . On my personal opinion sea, clouds and fire have a more realistic look than IL2:BoX, somethign about the colours in this sim gets a more realistic image, in comparison IL2 colours looks too vivid (sea and skies too perfect blues) On the other hand terrain objects and trees looks better in IL2. The FM of planes feel some different too, as is mean to be, is a different product. By now i´m having difficulties to dominate speeds and to aim exactly as i want, rudder is more sensible maybe (i dont know well, i'm tweaking controls yet, just a week with the game). I absolute love the shaking when shoot cannons with 109, the power of shots shakes the plane!! Amazing feeling!! I had seen this in youtube videos and was amazing, but feeling this when you are the pilot is fantastic. I love the whole range of anmo to choose and configurate (nice feature to add to IL2:BoX guys ). Engine manage looks similar, some more controls to watch in some planes, and some step extra to start engine, but affordable; just look for info on desired plane and follow the guides. i miss very much to configurate zoom in axis, i wish you solve this for 5.0 version please. I only have enjoyed the sim a few days, a lot to discover yet, specially multiplayer in server, so take this impresions with a pinch of salt please. In conclusion: If you are hesitating....purchase it now!! great great great game. My sincere congratulations to Team Fusion and 1C-777. What a product! Keep improving it along BoX serie . The future is bright for WWII flight combat simulation fans. Thank you TF and 1C-777. 3
56RAF_Roblex Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 My squadron played CLoD for several years before going to DCS about a year ago then when that went pear-shaped we all moved to BoX around September. We have looked at CLoD Blitz as it is free for us but the consensus seems to be "Too Little Too Late". It is a minor facelift on an outdated game that was never right from the outset. Team Fusion did an unbelievable job getting it playable and vastly improving it beyond what even the original creators dreamed of making it do. For a long time it was the best combat flight sim out there, better than the early BoX, but it still remains an old game with sticking plasters all over it and has been surpassed by BoX in the last 12 months with BoX still improving at a rapid rate while CLoD can only claim to maybe bring a new map and more minor tweaks at some unspecified future date (though I really would like to play in a North Africa theatre). 3
Lusekofte Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Roblex I know you guys from COD, I flew in a 110 unit against you many times. Jaeger was my nick then. I was pretty fed up with COD now for 3 to 4 years. Now when flying Blitz I really enjoy it. I think you just have been to short time away from it. What you feel about COD now is what I feel about BOX series . Never say never, I think I will see you and your squad back in COD skyes after 5.0 in a couple of years. Maybe then I am fed up and go back to BOX . One never knows
katdog5 Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 In VR BoX , so Im not a candidate to go so far backwards. But if you are brand new to the sim and use TrackIR theres not doubt in mind theres a good 350 hours to be spent over there....in fact Id be a bit jealous for anyone new to CoD, as it is now finally ready for release.

That is another good point. Even though I don't have VR yet, I believe it wont be long before the majority of people are flying in VR so CLoD is a dead end. As time go by, fewer and fewer people will want to migrate from playing WT or BoX or DCS in VR to a game that wont allow VR. Yes VR currently has it issues with lower resolution but anyone you talk to that flies in VR still refuses to go back to using a monitor despite the big difference in resolutions.
Lusekofte Posted January 6, 2018 Posted January 6, 2018 For me COD is more realistic, but that goes for control interface, VR does not mean a thing for me
