I have the following: HUD transparency 70 percent Instrument panel hidden map hidden I dont want any HUD elements but I want to be able to see all the kill messages, etc...I am not seeing any of the messages unless the HUD is on.
Herne Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 you can adjust the gui settings so you can turn help and tech tips off, hud instruments off and leave the chat window on. This is how I fly in MP most of the time.

By instruments, do you mean technochat? Or the junk in the bottom left? You should be able to turn technochat off and still have icons, I'm not so sure about the bottom left area.

I toggles icons - and the compass (do not ask me why). H toggles the whole HUD including Icons and compass. I cannot get Icons without the compass - but you can have just these if you go to settings / flight interface from main menu and untick the tips and messages box and the instruments box. Now when you toggle the HUD on, you should just see icons - and the annoying compass, but no messages and none of the other instrument data in the LH corner - except for the annoying compass. Did I mention the annoying compass? (Anyone know how to get rid of it while keeping Icons?)

schurem Posted January 7, 2018 Posted January 7, 2018 Somehow [H] hud is far worse for FPS than icons. Would be nice indeed to have text translation of the russian sound files (or have russian-accented english sound files!)

But unfortunately I do not have mission message or chat message... I do the same, have Icons assigned to a button on my Warthog throttle. I just toggle them on when needed. As far as wingmen chat, I try not to pay too much attention as I can not understand them anyway. Hopefully someday we will get English speakers. At least in VR, icons are not much of a performance hit at all. But the HUD certainly is.
