Herne Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Guys I was looking into the game data and I found the maximun reached speed by the A5 was 622 km/h at 6000 meters but according to my knowledge and books is over 650 same case the A3, the difference is huge I think...Now I understand why I can't increase the gap faster to some planes... There is an engine limitation, or bad source used by the devs? My books are from Dietmar Hermann does your book say if it's IAS ?
SJ_Butcher Posted January 5, 2018 Author Posted January 5, 2018 does your book say if it's IAS ? Man there is a huge diference between IA and TAS, obviusly the maximun speed is expressed by TAS in test etc..
von_Tom Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 I tend not to fly the A5 at 6000m, but do your combats really take place that high? If they are lower then it is best to look at the corresponding speeds at combat altitude. For example, if your combat is at ground level then the separation time may well be more than you'd think especially if the opponent is in a comparable plane or using boost. Regardless of the opponent, anything other than extending at high speed at a very low angle of climb makes things tricky. von Tom
Matt Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 (edited) You are probably taking the ingame performance at 1.32 ATA and compare it to the real life performance at 1.42 ATA. Edited January 5, 2018 by Matt

Finkeren Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Glad you got it sorted out. The Fw 190 really seems to finally be in the right place FM-wise now.
