dburne Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Hey gang, So I started my first PWCG Campaign for BoS some time ago ( in 2.1.2). Flying in a fighter role in the Yak-1. My campaign began on 12/1/1942. I am now at 1/17/1944. I have completed 214 missions to date. I would like at some point here soon, to move on to PWCG 3 with a Spitfire Campaign. But I am just a little OCD, in that I would really like to complete this first campaign of mine before moving on to it. Does anyone have an idea of about when my campaign might end? Thanks for any tips, 1
PatrickAWlson Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Go ahead and end it. Your campaign is effectively over. In RoF the campaign ends on 11/11/1918 with a newspaper saying the war is over. I never coded a campaign end in BoS because the war isn't over. If I was going to do a career ending with the maps we have today I would do it on Jan 1 1944. That would be one month after the heaviest fighting ended in Kuban, which would be reasonable. The ending would be a splash screen of some sort, so it wouldn't be all that. Now that I think of it - I'll try to fit that into the next release. If not next then next after next. 2. Once Bodenplatte comes into being we will have a true end of war map. I will stretch Kuban into mid 1944 and pick up Bodenplatte from there. The Germans will have the plane set. Hopefully some collector planes willmake the Russians competitive into 1944. Germans would transfer to the west. Russians could unrealistically transfer or choose not to. Addendum: Keep the career around until I get the end of conflict splash screen in place.
dburne Posted January 5, 2018 Author Posted January 5, 2018 Sounds great, thanks much Pat! I will keep this 2.1.2 career intact, but not continue it and go ahead and start a new campaign in PWCG 3 with the Spit!
PatrickAWlson Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Sorry - wasn't thinking too clearly when I said keep the career until update PWCG. If it's a 2.1.2 career it won't be backwards compatible, so it won't benefit from any end of war changes that I make in PWCG 3. You can rename PWCGCampaign to PWCGCampaign2.1.2 and then install PWCG 3 (which will install to PWCGCampaign). They can live side by side with no problem.

Yeah I had already installed PWCG 3 to it's own folder, so I had already had both versions. No worries, I will just go ahead and abandon my lengthy PWCG 2 campaign and start the new Spit campaign with PWCG 3. In fact I already have it set up, about to get started now. Thanks again, for all you do!
PatrickAWlson Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 I wouldn't call it abandoning as much as finishing. You made it through two long years of combat. The motherland appreciates your service and will provide you with a dacha in the Crimea ... as soon as we recapture it

Have already flown my first Spit mission in PWCG 3 over Kuban, going to love it!
