=X51=VC_ Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 A while ago when I bought my T16000M I got it for £30. Ok it was on a deal it's normally £40. My point is, it was a nice budget buy that nevertheless is a very comfortable and reliable joystick and I'm really happy with it. So recently I've been toying with the idea of getting a separate throttle as I've moved from a less serious sim to BoS and am struggling a bit with complex key mappings in VR. Then I saw the prices. Cheapest throttle quadrant is in the £50-£60 range and it just goes up and up from there. Howcome? I can't imagine it's more technically complex than a joystick. Are there no budget (~£30) options for a standalone throttle?
dburne Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Probably because it is such a niche item to have. Best to keep an eye out for sales, though may not be so many on just throttle units.
=X51=VC_ Posted January 4, 2018 Author Posted January 4, 2018 Yeah that's the other thing, too many combo packs or combined units and I don't want to spend on replacing the JS unnecessarily.
Sokol1 Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 (edited) Howcome? I can't imagine it's more technically complex than a joystick. Are there no budget (~£30) options for a standalone throttle? In fact throttle are less complex, don't need a gimbal, and "entry-level" throttle models use ~$0.10 pot' in axis instead a ~$2 contactless sensor, but comparatively to "entry-level" joysticks they have more buttons and axes, probable costing more to make and throttles are a small niche in already small niche (joysticks), selling less units than sticks.
