Boaty-McBoatface Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 (edited) Just wondering if that rear armoured glass actually has ability to take visual damage like the Yak 1? Never seen it damaged before. Regards, McBoat Edited January 3, 2018 by boaty_McBoatface
Boaty-McBoatface Posted January 3, 2018 Author Posted January 3, 2018 On that topic, it would be very cool to see the rear armoured head plate with a visual damage effect. I know Gunther Rall said he had that plate smashed in from behind and head injured whilst fighting Russians.
56RAF_Roblex Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 I have a nice pic of the front screen :-) 1
=EXPEND=Tripwire Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Never. Only my skull. Yep this. Many times.
Herne Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 Never. Only my skull. made me chuckle. the armoured glass plate makes me feel safer regardless. I'll pick a G2 over an F4 for that reason alone.
KoN_ Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 Do you think it works . maybe try with and with out see what difference it makes .
E69_geramos109 Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 (edited) Is useless. But the worse part is is back armor. The round has to pen the armor plate, the tank full of fuel that variates the trallectory of the round and absorbes most of the energy and after that other armored plate on the seat of the pilot. But if you are shot from pure six say by to your pilot istantly. Shvak Ap is magic and can pen everything. If you are lucky enought you just will lose all the surfaces of the tail at the same time. Because 109 tail is made of butter Edited January 4, 2018 by E69_geramos109
Nightrise Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 The g series have 20mm Armour plates behind the fuel tank that make it much more survivable from getting shot dead six by Russian ap ammo.
56RAF_Roblex Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Do you think it works . maybe try with and with out see what difference it makes . The pilot in the picture I posted lived to tell the tail after my IL2m43 rear gunner put a 20mm into his windscreen so it certainly worked there. The 109 was being flown by a squadmate which I why I got pictures from both sides https://roblex56raf.livejournal.com/27754.html
Oubaas Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 All of my airplanes have an instrument panel placard that says, "Keep enemy in front of aircraft." And I always do what the placards on the instrument panel tell me. So no, haven't had that happen.
216th_Jordan Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Only because the visual damage isn't modelled doesn't mean it doesn't take the damage.
=X51=VC_ Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Judging by the shape that looks more like the additional external front glass on an F than the headrest glass on a G but the thickness I expect would be similar and indeed very impressive. Nice picture!
[APAF]VR_Spartan85 Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 That piece of glass look really thick What, no refraction???
Willy__ Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 What, no refraction??? They didnt have the computer power to simulate it back then.... 1
[APAF]VR_Spartan85 Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Hmm maybe with the new rain tech they might pull it off
US63_SpadLivesMatter Posted January 5, 2018 Posted January 5, 2018 Judging by the shape that looks more like the additional external front glass on an F than the headrest glass on a G That's okay, the PE-2 guys can assure you that it is just as effective. :D
