Sokol1 Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 (edited) From TECS topic. Some thoughts. Overall looks good and practical - but this "wall switch" on throttle side deserve a better design, maybe Fw 190 style. That rotarie under throttle grip can be used for "zoom". The rudder and aileron trim on (MON)-OFF-(MON)? switches fit well for Bo'X but two extra rotaries with knobs will be useful in other games for same trims. The design is clear oriented for Bo'X series. Throttle lever need a "gate" (like a afterburner detent) - preferable adjustable for avoid undesired use of emergency power. dburne Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 is this a concept or real development? The below was posted by AeroGator ( VKB) on another forum: <<<Just to clarify something, it is a mock render, which has never seriously been planned for production. One of "maybe some day" projects that every good designer has in numbers. (sorry Sokol it might be a good joke to post it, but it'd better be kept till 1 April). Please do not see it as an official announcement or any sort of promise.>>>

Beazil Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Respectfully Butcher, I think it looks fab. Make it black with white lettering (or LW grey) and you have a winner. It looks to have a ton of functions potentially available. If I was in the market for a throttle I'd consider a retail version for sure.

Jade_Monkey Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 I agree with butcher, it's not going to win any prizes in the looks department.
Retnek Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 Looking at the retro-designs there was one limit: the space left to the pilot was small and stretched long to offer the place needed. The broad and short design shown above might do good on a home-office desk. The buttons are more easy to cover with one hand on the stick. But it's not the "look and feel" I'd love to see.
Lusekofte Posted January 2, 2018 Posted January 2, 2018 For this game it is almost too many axis, but for DCS and COD this would be great.
Sokol1 Posted January 2, 2018 Author Posted January 2, 2018 (edited) And what real WW2 throttle looks "fancy"? They are ugly as hell. What matter is if the thing result practical, because adjust Prop Pitch, Mixture, Radiators... with "fancy" HAT corners is very mehh. But this guy achieve nice design in their "vintage consoles". Anyway based in the past trend, VKB only will show their "Joker" in this matter after VirPil show yours "cards". Better don't expect see this kind of VKB WW2 throttle in the next... 2/3 years. 1CGS LukeFF Posted January 3, 2018 1CGS Posted January 3, 2018 For this game it is almost too many axis, but for DCS and COD this would be great. It's not hardly too many axes for BoS. Consider most Soviet planes - they have a water radiator, oil radiator, mixture, rpm, and throttle that all need to be manually adjusted.
Macross Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 If this would be on sale, i would buy. For what i see, maybe some minor changes to some button/axis placements, but overall i would approve, even beeing little wide.
6./ZG26_5tuka Posted January 3, 2018 Posted January 3, 2018 As said in the other thread the throttle lever should be placed on the left and made a little longer to not collide with the other levers (would also help to make the unit more sleek). Otherwise I quite like it (minus the rocker switch on the throttle lever).
OBT-Voss Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 this will easily replace my Saitek Throttle without difficulty Can't wait to associate such device with my Gladiator Pro MKII Happy new year by the way to all here
WWGriphos Posted January 4, 2018 Posted January 4, 2018 I want it. Too bad I won’t ever be able to get it. But perhaps their TECS may someday actually happen.
