SCU_Server Posted February 19, 2020 Posted February 19, 2020 (edited) Hi TX_Tip, I just started testing and hosting your missions on my server for our squad guys as we like COOP missions, lots of fun thanks, just a couple of questions, the AlliedRandomRhineland map it seemed impossible to finish the tank and artillery mission, everything was so hard to kill, even with 2000kg bombs on the P38's, to the point in 4hrs we had not completed that 1 mission with 9 pilots, how much do we need to destroy to complete that type of mission ?? Are there many random enemy CAP patrols at all, we only got attacked once by enemy fighters hitting our AF and never saw a CAP over the tank mission. Thanks very much Hotdognz Edited February 19, 2020 by SCU_Server 1

Thanks very much Hotdognz Appreciate the feedback. Thank you. Did a quick looksee at that objective and found something else on another objective that needs to be revamped. So I'll have a new download for Allied Random Rhineland sometime this weekend. Yes there are Axis CAPs. Not necessarily on each objective but perhaps that should/could be amended as well. Just to cross check. You are using an Independent DServer not your personal games Create Dogfight Server for the Allied Random Rhineland mission. Correct? Tip

SCU_Server Posted February 22, 2020 Posted February 22, 2020 Thanks for the reply, yes all your missions are being run on a DServer We have played some more and finally had a CAP missions to protect our Armour and also the random bomber destroy mission which was very exciting Also any chance of some of these missions being run on the Rhineland winter map, it looks so nice. Cheers

Cheers Excellent... Yes I seemed to recall you posting sometime back that you were running or were going to run an independent Dserver but just wanted to double check on that. Changing the mission to winter would be an easy fix requiring opening up the MISSION file included in the download within the ME. Make sure that all 9 files are present in the same folder. *Important do not attempt to save the mission until all the below steps have been taken. Within the Mission Properties: Click on the <Terrain Presets> Negotiate the drop down and select <rheinlandwinter> Click on <apply> and let it do its thing Negotiate to the GUI Map and from the drop down select <rheinland-winter Make sure that the Season changed automatically or you can change manually to <winter> Change the name of the Mission to Winter Allied Random Rhineland1v or whatever you wish. Now you can go up and click <File> <Save As> Negotiate to where you have your Dogfight folder "IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\Multiplayer\Dogfight" set up. Put the new name of the mission for the File Name: "WinterAlliedRandomRhineland1v" or whatever you wish. Click <save> The BoS editor will automatically load the newly edited and named mission. However at this point I always use <File> <open> Negotiate to the new mission within the Dogfight folder. Make sure its there, named properly with the correct season and then just Click <save>. Its an extra step that perhaps is not needed but after almost 5 years of creating new working content over all the three mission venues this game has to offer one which has served me well. From this point on further edit the mission and run on your Dserver as you see fit. Tip 1
SCU_Server Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Thanks Tip, I managed to get it up and running on the Rhineland winter map, our guys are having a blast with your missions. After playing for a week or so now on all your versions of the Random maps, once you have done the ground tank attack, train attack and barge attack, we then had a large bomber formation attack, plus the protect our ground asset mission, after that it seems the missions stop generating, is this how it supposed to be. ??, is it possible to make the missions generate new ground attack missions at all and some more bomber attack missions as these really are exciting missions to play. id like to suggest some escorts for the bombers to make it a little bit more spicy , we had at one time 12 players on this mission and the bomber one was still really hard Cheers Hotdognz 1
[DBS]Tx_Tip Posted February 29, 2020 Author Posted February 29, 2020 Glad you were able to make the change to the Winter map and appreciate the feedback. There are 5 different scenarios for Allied and Axis squads which are included (Fighter Sweep, Train, Artillery, Armored Platoon-Infantry Convoy and CAP Assets) along with a Shipping attack for the Allied Kerch Map with the Randoms. The Barge and Bomber attacks are new to the Rhineland maps. Missions are always a work in progress as the Devs release new content and I have the time to create new scenarios using that content. Look for some more online missions in the future which play off of the Single Player Random Works missions that are available. Tip 1
FAFG_Ogier Posted March 7, 2020 Posted March 7, 2020 Hello, thanks for those nice missions ! We have fun playing them, but there is a small tech problem, and I'd like to know if someone has already experienced the same issue: when one of our pilot is killed, or when one of us clicks "end mission", the whole mission stops, and the "next" mission on the server is launched. It's probably something that happens when new objectives are created, but I haven't been able to understand why. No MCU in the missions seems to be supposed to have this effect ?!? I'm of course using DServer to run the missions. The game is also running on the same computer. 1

Not sure why the server rotation is activated once someone ends the mission or is killed. I don't have experience with hosting a Dserver and playing on the same computer. My guess would be that it has something to do with that. Hopefully you can get some advise from others who have successfully run both Dserver and game from the same rig. Correct there is no "End" mission MCU within the Random DF Missions. There are "End" MCUs for the SC1 and SC2 missions, time limit and pilots killed, along with a time limit for the current CoOp missions. Tip

blue_max Posted December 28, 2020 Posted December 28, 2020 Hey Tip, Thanks for these missions! We play them and they're pretty awesome. I love the one with the 262s over Kuban. TipsCoOPSBoBP4b might be a bit generic with regards to what the mission entails when deciding to load it up and play. IIRC I named them this way to keep it clear what I was reupdating and saving over the years. Along with ease for folks who perhaps aren't familiar with doing resaves within the ME. As they could just be overwritten after downloading and installing the newest version. I'll look into renaming them though. Might be time to add some of the recent advances within the games visuals and new aircraft additions. I could also give a more thorough description in the Readme as well if that is something that would aid in selection for folks. As far as the descriptions within the mission itself. I chose to have the player pick an aircraft first and then hover over the Icons within the briefing screen as there is not a hard-coded way to hide objectives from one side to the other. Is that what you meant? Appreciate the post. Tip .
blue_max Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Hey, thanks for the answer! Yes it would be absolutely awesome if you would update the missions, we love flying them So yes, more descriptive mission names so I actually know what it is. A mission pack with all of the missions combined together with one text file that describes the missions would also suffice. Is that what you meant? this is really not so important compared to just knowing what mission we’re actually going to get in to, but as a nice to have: perhaps a little back general made up back story just to set the mood? ‘Welcome to operation torching flamelight, today our objective is blabla’. Oh I thought you’d like to know: another one of our favorites is the one where you fly in with all the mustangs, and then you’re intercepted by a huge number of 190s, but your Mustang is fully loaded with bombs so you have to drop those and engage. It’s a small touch but it’s really cool. Cheers, Blue

Looking forward to the updated missions! On small request: we are a bit of a mixed group with some players being very experienced and others... well, not so much. It would be awesome if you could add respawn points to the missions so we can run them in dogfight mode. That way, if someone makes a dumb mistake (like load up a P51 with 100% fuel), we don't have to start over / someone has to sit it out. Cheers! Blue Edit: I see operation market garden is already a dogfight mission. Awesome. Edited February 6, 2021 by blue_max
blue_max Posted February 6, 2021 Posted February 6, 2021 We played through operation market garden this evening, in a group of six. All planes, no tanks. We really enjoyed it, and the concept of having more complicated multi-stage missions to go through is really awesome. Phase 1: super cool to do a sweep to clear the way for the C47s, and it was awesome to see them do the paradrops. But after that we weren't exactly sure what to do next, and two of our team had crashed and could not respawn because the original spawn point was closed, but there wasn't a new spawn point open. So then we went to phase 2. Phase 2: The C47s are again awesome to watch. We made it back to the base you're supposed to RTB to (forgot the name), and did RRR. But then we weren't sure what to do next, so we just quit and went to phase 3. Phase 3: all we encountered was a pair of 109-G6s (late). And the bombing target was a bit hard to identify. The briefing said oil tanks, but the objects were more like hangers. We just randomly started bombing stuff that was roughly where we were supposed to bomb and it worked. Then we went to bomb some more stuff at Arnhem. Then everything was dead and we decided to call it a day. So overall impression: really great concept, and it could be polished a bit with the following: we didn't really encounter all that much resistance. Probably that's the way it was in real life, but for us a bit more of a challenge would have been fun. It feels like there should have been more things happening but we just didn't trigger things correctly? We never managed to unlock the second spawn point for airplanes, or figure out what to do after RRR. Respawning was a bit funky. It worked once, but it did not work another time. I understand you don't want unlimited respawns, but maybe give everyone the option to respawn ~ once? So a couple extra planes would be good. And perhaps have an air strip operational for RRR more near to the battlefield (also not realistic I'm sure, but it would be cool). Anyway, overall, great job, we are big fans of your work!

Tip On 2/6/2021 at 6:26 PM, justin_z3r0 said: Is it possible to play this coop mission offline? Been looking for Operation Market Garden. No, its setup for spawning at either the Main Tank Base or the RAF one. However if you are able to use the games Dogfight GUI and set up a server you will be able to play it that way with just yourself. Won't be easy and you would need to carry out the initial RAF operations within a certain time then switch back and forth from Tank to Aircraft for any chance of progressing on the ground. Thanks you for your efforts and missions, they are great. You would need to use the wildcard routine and make doubly sure to rename the the Phase One, Phase Two, Phase Three missions to something else within their properties. Additionally be sure to Save As the newly named mission within the Operation Market Garden folder lest you run into a .list and localization file problem. ============================================ Edit a Mission Without the Mission Source File If you do not have the source file (.mission) that the editor works with, you can still edit a mission. You need only the following: - The mission binary file (.msnbin), which is what actually runs in IL-2 Sturmovik. - The localization files (.eng, .fra, .ger, and so on) if the mission is translated into various languages. Note: A multiplayer mission on a mission participant's computer normally does not include the .mission file. The .mission file is left out of the DServer mission download directory in order to save download time. Do the following: 1. In the editor File menu, click Open. 2. Type *.* in the File Name box and press Enter. 3. Navigate to your game folder and then to the directory containing the mission that you want to edit. The singleplayer directory is \data\Missions. The multiplayer directory is \data\Multiplayer\Dogfight\Operation Market Garden. 4. Choose your mission file that ends with .msnbin and click Open. The editor opens the binary file. You can now edit the mission. 5. Save As the mission with a new name Your mission is saved with a .mission suffix. ============================================= Just a note folks on when the CoOps, Dogfight Missions will be redone and available. Recently had a death within my immediate family. So although started on many of them. Missions require a combined effort to unlock all targeting and the new aircraft airbase. The player Sherman's start Ground AI routines and targeting. Both for the Tanks and the Aircraft. Appreciate the feedback. Tip No, its setup for spawning at either the Main Tank Base or the RAF one. However if you are able to use the games Dogfight GUI and set up a server you will be able to play it that way with just yourself. Won't be easy and you would need to carry out the initial RAF operations within a certain time then switch back and forth from Tank to Aircraft for any chance of progressing on the ground. Tip You would need to use the wildcard routine and make doubly sure to rename the the Phase One, Phase Two, Phase Three missions to something else within their properties. Right now I just don't have the heart nor the inclination to test them up to standard with the new hazes, routines and aircraft. Appreciate the comments, Tip Sorry to hear. My condolences. Thanks for taking the time. The work you do is much appreciated.

Spidey002 Posted September 20, 2021 Posted September 20, 2021 Quick question for Allied Random Rhineland: If I'm playing with just one other friend, do I need to edit anything to be able to play it with him? I noticed in the readme some objectives are only generated with four players. ~ Spidey

No need to edit anything Spidey002. 1) All Players Spawn at Vokel. 2) A Random Sortie Objective will appear as a HUD w/Icon on Map after 30 seconds. 3) New Random Sortie Objectives will be generated when 4 players Spawn, Finish Alive, Get Shot Down, Crash, or are Killed. This means any 4 planes. You don't need 4 separate Players to achieve this. Say your friend and yourself spawn in and 30 seconds later you get the Fighter Sweep. That is 2 of the 4. Both of y'all fly the mission, one of you is shot down and and killed. That is 3 of the 4. The one who was shot down Respawns. That is 4 of the 4 and 30 seconds later a new Objective will show up. Enjoy the missions. Tip 1

Mtnbiker1998 Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Just saw your Rhineland dogfight missions, definitely trying those out soon! I've loved all your random works missions so far, and I think the dogfight server style with respawns and aircraft selection will work together really well with it. Expecting to waste many hours with the bois. Super excited!
