II./JG27_Rich Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 (edited) Doe this mean the Stalingrad map is coming in the next instalment? I know it's not nice to say but if there's one thing I can't stand it's small maps. Time to fill that tank and actually need it Our engineers are building new planes and power plants to power them. You’ll probably be able to take off in an Il-2 shortly after the holidays, as well as the Ju-87. After the Holidays we'll get back to tuning the damage model with a lot more detail, and fix remaining instruments.[ Also, we hope to show you the first iteration of the main Stalingrad map in the next session]. There's a huge amount of work to be done there, but I figure it is good enough to be rolled out for you to give your feedback and impressions. A big part of the ground objects is in their places and rivers and forests are where they belong. The snow on the airfields is packed well enough for planes to use them as runways. Anyway, we'll be polishing the visuals all the way up to launch day. Edited December 24, 2013 by II./JG27_Rich
ShamrockOneFive Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Sure sounds that way I was without power for much of the time that the test was going on this past weekend so I hadn't had a chance to play. I'm looking forward to the next testing period and new content!
=AVG=Zombie Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I'd rather have trim. +1 on that..... unbelievable trim is not implemented already.
BraveSirRobin Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 +1 on that..... unbelievable trim is not implemented already. Actually, the unbelievable part is that we have access to an early ALPHA version of this game. 3
Bando Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I sure hope a big map is coming. Love the sim so far. I firmly believe things will come together in due time. I also believe that we all bought our way into a PRE Alfa, so ... ...all good things come to those who can wait it out a bit more. Happy holidays and a great new year in simland. 1
ShamrockOneFive Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Actually, the unbelievable part is that we have access to an early ALPHA version of this game. QFT. Alpha "testing" (were not actually Q&A testers) is a genuine pleasure but it has to be understood that we're playing something that is unfinished. Not content complete with bugs but something that is continually being worked on with new features being committed to the software as they are readied. Its great to be a part of the process. If trim were missing from the finished version then by all means there should be complaints.
Trident_109 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Unbelievable the attitudes of some people in this place. Do people think the developers have forgotten about trim? Do they think they are withholding trim just to annoy us? Clearly some people haven't considered the fact that the developers have a long list of things that need to be implemented, trim is just one of the things on the list. When they're at the point in their list when trim is done, no doubt it will be just in time for some people's attitudes to kick in again moaning about some other missing feature. And to think that flight sims tend to attract a more mature audience! Did I ruffle feathers? Frankly, with out trim flying the LaGG is not enjoyable to fly and I find myself firing up BoS less and less. Yes I know they developers are working on many features and will implement them in time. Yes I'm aware that the game is only 36% done. But, having a Stalingrad map is useless to me if I'm not flying. I know when the features I'm looking forward to the most are put into the game I'll resume enjoying BoS. And regarding the maturity level of the simmers - You've never thrown a tantrum or made a negative comment? Please get over yourself.
71st_AH_Hooves Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I don't get how the lagg is unplayable. I'm flying it every day of access and loving it. I push forward on the stick a little and it flys straight and true. To each his own I guess. I'm looking forward to getting the big map to see the city of Stalingrad. But most of all I'm looking forward to some coop missions so a few friends can go out on a raid. Looking forward to the bombers as well!
Cybermat47 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I don't even use trim, so it's not that big an issue for me. I'd rather see the full Stalingrad map. Here's hoping it looks like hell.

Trident_109 Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 lol you're telling me to get over myself is so ironic. It should have been obvious due to the way I phrased my opening line that I was directing my comment not at you but at the poster beneath you. I'd also prefer trim to an early version of the Stalingrad map, therefore I had/have no problem with you expressing your preference. What I do have a problem with is the sense of entitlement that some posters come with. This community is unbelievable sometimes. Not since I entered adulthood, no I don't believe anyone would ever accuse me of throwing a tantrum. Know what? I over reacted. Sorry. I rarely complain. Trim is the only thing I have issue with in the development so far and because I rarely am negative I went off on your comment. My bad. I don't get how the lagg is unplayable. I just don't like how excess forward pressure ruins flying, situational awareness, tracking to line up bombing and rockets. I know it's flyable but it isn't usable..... at least not to me.
71st_AH_Hooves Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Like i said to each his own. It doesnt drain any of those things for me and its not difficult to line up for bomb or rocket runs. Further more. I also know its going to be added soon. (As in before release) and it allows me to enjoy what is being offered. Id be willing to bet that u see it implemented in the first part of Jan anyway.
s8n Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 (edited) aside all the taking jabs at each other over a game that is publicly known to not be finished...i had a blast at my first chance to fly this sim! it was so fun that when they shut it down for the week i was really bummed and can't wait to return and fly again. good work team! very pretty so far i hope there is lots more to come. D~ as for trim...comon guys...i just used level autopilot and i fly with one arm...so if anyone should have a reason to bitch ,it would be me. i'm not bitching at all love the sim so far. 1./KG4_Blackwolf Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 How many game devs give you alpha access thrown into the price of pre-ordering? Very few. With most games you pre-order, your money is taken and then you wait months or maybe years for the finished article. Not only do we gain early access but we also get a discount too. Yet from reading these forums it's obvious that a significant number of people don't understand what an alpha is. Consider also how even a game in beta can still be rough around the edges and missing content. As founders, we've been given a unique opportunity to be involved in the development of this sim from a very early stage. Instead of complaining about features it's obvious are going to be implemented at some stage, try giving some useful feedback on the content we have so far. That way we'll all end up with a far better sim. This. We have a chance to help the game and the dev's are listening to us. The more useful feedback they get the better. 2

Oh sure, add perspective to the conversation. Alright, no more complaints by me.

Trident_109 Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 Brando that you? I was thinking the same thing, BC.
DD_Perfesser Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 (edited) Pretty sure I saw somewhere Robert posted he has a CH stick. You could, for the time being, use the manual wheel on the stick itself to give you trim of sorts if it bothers you that much. Think of it as a 35% trim system till they fix it in game. It's about the only way I could land the LaGG at first. Edited December 26, 2013 by DD_Perfesser

It may be a nice temporary fix until trim is installed.
MarcoRossolini Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 (edited) I'm still trying to find out where the devs said we'd be getting the Stalingrad map next week... can someone quote it...? I've not seen anything. Edit: I'm an idiot, found it in the OP Edited December 26, 2013 by MarcoRossolini
Feathered_IV Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 I took it as meaning we'd get a look at it, rather than be able to download it. Trying to keep my expectations at a reasonable level.
Uufflakke Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Here is Zak's quote from Dev Update #46: "Also, we hope to show you the first iteration of the main Stalingrad map in the next session. There's a huge amount of work to be done there, but I figure it is good enough to be rolled out for you to give your feedback and impressions. A big part of the ground objects is in their places and rivers and forests are where they belong. The snow on the airfields is packed well enough for planes to use them as runways. Anyway, we'll be polishing the visuals all the way up to launch day." It can be interpreted in many ways. The way I read it is that in next update the dev team will show some screenies and perhaps a video of the main map. It can also mean that the WIP map will be ready for d/l. It is all a matter of patience and it won't take long for the next session to find out what that quote really means.
s8n Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Brando that you? nope...ROF ppl know me but that's about it
Mogster Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 After flying ROF for a few years I find all this trim hullabaloo quite surprising, you get used to flying along for hours with he stick pushed forwards a bit A lot of people seem to fly with the trim wheel almost rather than the stick. From IL2 I seem to remember the I16 not having trim? 1
II./JG27_Rich Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 I'm waiting right now for money to clear through Paypal so I can perchase a CH Fighterstick and Throttle....Finally ....
Georgio Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Personally I don't have a problem with flying either the LaGG or 109 without trim. i've always found that fiddling with trim and the mirror while in a combat zone are bad habits to develop. After all who wants to give the enemy a nicely trimmed target to ventilate. :D Don't get me wrong, I'll use the trim when it's implemented but until then I'll just enjoy flying around in a superb sim and be grateful for being able to appreciate this earlier than usual.
Dutch Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 Ooooh. I hope that 'the big map' is coming this week. I really do.
II./JG27_Rich Posted December 27, 2013 Author Posted December 27, 2013 (edited) Oh well it be all the better in January. Also I will be all the closer to having my CH Hotas Edited December 27, 2013 by II./JG27_Rich
HeavyCavalrySgt Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 No problem at all. I'm also looking forward to flying the Lagg a la trim. Not me. I have learned to love making craters. Landing practice is a waste of time. 1
