Ju-87 B-2

I know that adding this plane in the game would be a lot of effort for not much, but as far as I know, the B-2 was present in greater numbers than the D-3 over Stalingrad, and there were none over Moscow. It should be added for the sake of historicity.

I haven't managed to find a thread mentioning this, so I just wanted to say this.

Eventually, I really think we need* a package of earlier and later versions of existing aircraft:

Ju 87B or R

Yak-1 early series with PA engine

LaGG-3 series 3 or 4

MiG-3 early series (“short nosed”)

Ju 87D-5

LaGG-3 1943 (series 66 or something equivalent)

Bf 110F

A-20G

La-5F with the new canopy

Ju 88C

Yak-7B with new canopy

Here’s hoping that a 3rd party developer can one day deliver on this.

*: Obviously we don’t need any of this, but still it would flesh out the new career mode nicely.

B and R would be great, I love it in COD , there is so many planes I wish for. Hard to choose just one

Oh there is much (MUCH!) to choose from. Something like the Ju87B-2 does make a lot of sense in terms of being useful in a couple of different places.

If that Odessa map ever comes I'd love to see some effort directed towards filling in a few early war gaps. For example the Ju87B-2 would be right at home there. I'd also suggested types like the I-153 and maybe the Hs123. Useful in at least a couple of different places. There's a sizable number of folks interested in having a lend lease Hurricane available sometime (I'm a fan, I'd love to see it too). I'd even be interested in a early series Yak-1 with a M-105 engine... something closer to the Series 1 than closer to the Series 69.

This is getting ahead of ourselves for sure but anything is possible given time (and resources). Ideas! :D

B and R could be a combined Aircraft. The Changes are quite minimal.

Was it only the fuel tanks or did the R have slightly longer wings

The R-1 was derived from the B-1, the R-2 from the B-2.

Some Rs also had Armored Glass added for the Rear Gunner.

Wing dimensions were the same. The installation of additional fuel tanks + the rplacement of the wing bomb pylons with auxillary fuel tank attachment points was the main difference together with other things like sand filters for the tropical version (most Rs saw action in the Med/Africa).

That was a troop modification for both types. There are images of Ju 87 Bs during BoB having up armoured gunner stations.

The D series were the most produced Stuka of the war. They started serving on the Easter Front in late 1941.

A lot of D-1 and D-3 variants flew over Stalingrad. I had a production and losses list somewhere but I can't seem to find it now.

The Moscow "campaign" won't allow you to fly the Stuka since it's the incorrect version historically... So they didn't break any history on that one...

Would I support more Stuka variants? of course. Does the average player want these? doubtful.

Why bother with any early war Aircraft for that Reason? How would have wanted a 109E, or a Ju-52? Or a Po-2?

Of course the Ju-87B is of Interest.

I didn't say the B series was not of interest. I said I'd support more Stuka variants but I doubt the AVERAGE player would. And by average player... I am imagining a thrill seeking fighter pilot that possibly lack patience.

Those already don't care about the current Stuka, and they don't matter.

Look, the game's genre is so niche that it wouldn't be very far-fetched to say that the average player is one who likes all types of flying machines of war. It probably isn't true, though. For example, my dad who's in his sixties is basically not interested in flying a bomber, even less a transport plane.

This. The fighter jocks are well-catered for already and I'm not interested in what they're getting. They hype for the new 109 and La-5 leaves me cold.

I get that the devs want to be assured of sales but there's nothing to suggest that earlier aircraft, or more attackers or bombers or other types won't sell well.

The Po-2 will be very popular based on forum posts alone.

And I'm at the stage where I'd buy any non-fighter just to support the diversification of the plane set.
