taffy2jeffmorgan Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 I have to say that the graphic and lighting quality of Blitz is excellent, I feel that no other combat flight sim gives you that feeling of flying, the cloud quality is by far the best , better even dare i say than BoS. Not sure what the future holds, but it would be great if the game could progress into 1941-42 to be able to fly the other variants of Spitfire and even the Fw 190, I take my hat off to the independent developers . Cheers 1

Cheers You may want to drop what you're doing and fly VR over Spring Kuban awash in billowy gravity wave clouds with godrays bathing the fertile landscape through a 45 angle sun. eh, what you have just stated fine sir is just a wee bit off. but yes hats off indeed! I mean c'mon. http://www.twomoreweeks.net/il2-bos-new-clouds/ Edited December 28, 2017 by katdog5
taffy2jeffmorgan Posted December 28, 2017 Author Posted December 28, 2017 Perhaps one day if i can save the money for a VR setup, I'll join you in the clouds.
LLv34_Temuri Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Graphic and lighting quality is very nice indeed. I especially like how looking at the sun hampers your vision. However, BoX still does the feel of speed somehow better. I also had to add a touch of vibrance with ReShade, as I felt the colors were a bit washed out
Warpig Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 (edited) I love how you can feel the ricketyness of the planes, especially while landing. Somehow CloD simulates the feeling of flight a just little bit better than BoX in my opinion. Both titles are great in their own ways. I will say, I do love these clickable cockpits. I didn't understand what the big deal was before, but it is a very nice feature. Edited December 28, 2017 by Warpig
DickDong Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 (edited) Nothing like spawning in on the field, and watching plane crab into wind on deck, sooooo imersive. 700 hrs in CLOD, cant fix basic physics, luckily ive got this great sim to play. Edited December 28, 2017 by deflectionking 1
DaveP63 Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 from the 4.01 read me: Just to let people know, we will be releasing TF 4.01 in the near future, and that release will include a complete revision of the ground handling, and takeoff/landing modeling. This will include more accurate ground Centers of Gravity, spring stiffness, oleo leg characteristics for the different types, as well as enhanced propwash effects. This will coincide with the implementation of more of the game's very complex layered wind modeling on the servers, to provide a more challenging landing and takeoff experience. IIRC there were complaints that the ground handling was too easy or no ground loops or something of that nature. It's been a while ago.
Lusekofte Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 I do not know if Blitz is better or worse in anything. It give me a more realistic feel when I am in action. I get slightly more confused , a bit more happy to achieve something in COD . It give a tiny bit more sense of accomplishment . But I am sure it is subjective. Comparing the two is difficult if not impossible Sense of hight and distance is in my mind better. But the environment is dead compared to BOS . Gain something loose something. It is all subjective preference . I love flying COD now, next month I prefer BOS or DCS . They are so different, 1
Sokol1 Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 DaveP63 Unfortunately the changes relative to this strange plane x wind interaction on ground was not fixed, so rest hope in that "in the near future" of your quote. Enjoy what CloD has good still meaning accept "shortcomings, compromises...". Who don't accept this, better forget about this title. 1
Lusekofte Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Enjoy what CloD has good still meaning accept "shortcomings, compromises...". After tolerating half-finished mods for decades in IL 2 , you really do not need a lot of imagination and tolerance for coping with COD . It is all about what kind of benefit you gain by tolerate them. Once you recognise this, no tolerance is needed
Jade_Monkey Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 I'm a huge BOS fan and CLOD doesn't quite click with me, but you have to give it to CLOD when it comes to cockpit lighting. BOS has good shadows but in the areas illuminated by the sun the lighting is pretty "flat". Same of the exterior of the plane. It makes it look more cartooney, and it's just an issue with how the light and surfaces interact. I hope they work on that in one of those internal projects they usually keep quiet until it's pretty much done.
Lusekofte Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 I flown BOS exclusive since it got MP servers, now I prefer COD. Next year maybe I prefer BOS again.
Trooper117 Posted January 17, 2018 Posted January 17, 2018 Absolutely loving CloD at the moment... TF have done a good job on some of the tweaks and refinements. I am really looking forward to the new add on... New aircraft, new Africa/Med theatre, improved AI plus the command/comms system is getting overhauled. For SP guys things are really looking up 2
